Andrew Raycroft has signed on to play with Italian team Milano Rossoblu next season. He started the 2011-12 campaign with the Dallas Stars, but was sent down the minors after losing his backup job to Richard Bachman. Raycroft appeared in just 10 NHL games, while posting a 2-8-0 record with a 3.51 goals-against average and .897 save percentage before being placed on waivers and demoted.

Andrew Raycroft might be waived, with the intention of sending him to the minors, when Kari Lehtonen is ready to return from a groin injury. The Stars will have to make a decision soon on whether to retain Raycroft or Richard Bachman as Lehtonen's backup. "We're not going to carry three," coach Glen Gulutzan said referring to his goaltenders. "There's going to be a decision made, but until Lehts is a fully capable guy, we haven't discussed time frame."

Richard Bachman has started the last six games for the Stars but coach Glen Gulutzan will decide after the morning skate as to who is his starter Friday. With Kari Lehtonen due to return next week if there are no setbacks, this could be Raycroft's last chance in a while.

When Kari Lehtonen went down, this was what we were worried about, as his replacement has given up 10 goals in his last two starts. His record dropped to 2-7-1 and he now has a 3.53 goals-against average and .897 save percentage on the season -- not exactly numbers indicative of a fantasy-relevant goalie at this point. There's a reason why he's only started 250 games in a career that began in 2000. Richard Bachman set aside 11 shots in the third period, and it's fair to guess that he could get the call against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Andrew Raycroft had a rough night in net, allowing five goals in the Dallas Stars' 5-4 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday night. The de facto No. 1 goalie only made 22 saves, but more notably couldn't find a way to keep the puck out of the net when Matt Moulson (four goals) shot it. With Lehtonen down, the Stars will need Raycroft to be better to survive. Richard Bachman could get his first start between the pipes when Dallas faces San Jose on Dec. 8.
