MacDonald bagged an assist, blocked four shots and finished plus-4 in Monday's 4-1 whipping of his former team, the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
MacDonald has been a human wall in front of Flyers' keepers as of late, blocking 21 shots in his last five games. He's also got three points in that span, and seems to have found his niche with skating partner Shayne Gostisbehere. He faces Columbus Tuesday, a team that only averages 2.54 goals per game.

MacDonald (lower body) won't play Saturday against the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
MacDonald blocked 10 shots in Friday's matchup with Tampa Bay, leaving the former sixth-round pick a bit banged up ahead of Saturday's tilt against Florida. The 29-year-old blueliner is listed as day-to-day with his lower-body ailment, indicating he could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday against Detroit.

MacDonald dishes out a helper and blocked 10 shots in Friday's 3-1 win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
After posting zeros in his first seven games since being recalled in mid-February, MacDonald now has three assists in his last five games. That's hardly worthy of any champagne, though it may be worth a cheap beer. And if he keeps blocking shots at this pace, he'll certainly need lots of cheap beer to ease the pain. If your league rewards that category, MacDonald may be worth a sniff -- he's blocked 21 shots in his last five games.

MacDonald was recalled by the Flyers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The move was made because Michael Del Zotto is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury, so the team needed to beef up its defensive depth. This is MacDonald's second recall of the season, and he had a nine-game point streak with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms prior to the callup.

MacDonald has been loaned to the Phantoms of the AHL.
EDGE Analysis
Terming the transaction a "loan" is a friendlier way of saying that MacDonald has been demoted, yet we'd be remiss to not inform you of his talents. MacDonald is regarded as a smart defenseman capable of picking up a heavy amount of ice time. He played this past Tuesday against the Islanders and was on the ice for 19:29, and he's not averaged less than 20 minutes per game in a given campaign since his cup of coffee with the Islanders in 2008-09. He's a veteran that mostly gets in the way of opponents at this juncture.

MacDonald was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
MacDonald has posted 13 points (12 assists) in 24 games thus far with Lehigh Valley, and it's enough to earn him a promotion to the Flyers. The blueliner seems a likely candidate to draw into the lineup Tuesday with both Luke Schenn and Radko Gudas dealing with injuries.
