Boston's Andrew Ference did not practice with the team on Tuesday and will miss tonight's game against the Devils, but the defenseman skated on his own.
Tonight's game against the visiting Devils will mark the second straight Ference will miss as he recovers from a lower-body injury sustained last Thursday against Edmonton. Coach Claude Julien refrained from mentioning when Ference will resume practicing with the team. Steve Kampfer will again take Ference's place in the lineup.

Andrew Ference is gaining the attention of the coaching staff after his strong start to the season.
Ference is in for some big-time minutes on the second pairing. If he can get some valuable power play time he would start to be a consideration in fantasy leagues. "He certainly can move the puck well,'' said coach Claude Julien. "He moves himself very well across that blue line. When he can get his shots through, he's certainly a big asset to our power play. As far as I'm concerned, what he did [Thursday] certainly warranted him being on that power play. Throughout the course of the season, you're going to see guys move around. He's certainly a guy we feel can go in and do that job.'' Pay attention to the upcoming Boston games to get a good idea where Ference stands on the team.

The Boston Bruins are looking towards regaining their confidence against Chicago on Saturday.
Andrew Ference put it best: "It's a great challenge, a great opponent, but it's only of benefit if we take care of our own stuff first." He went on to say: "I think the biggest thing we've had in our good games is more of an attack mentality, with and without the puck...It's aggression, dogging the puck. If there was a turnover, you'd have guys going after it 100 miles an hour, taking it to the net, forechecking. Everything was just attacking, aggressive. And it's not stupid aggression. It's still playing within the system, playing your position, but it's just that extra attitude. And our whole game revolves around that." We expect Boston to come out flying on Saturday, making for an excellent matchup.

Andrew Ference and Chris Kelly will share the A that used to belong to Mark Recchi.
Ference will wear the A during home games for the first half of the season and Kelly will have the A on the road. The roles alternate in the second half of 2011-12. "I think all the players and the coaching staff agreed that those guys have that personality that gives them the respect in the room," coach Claude Julien said. "Also, they have that personality that shows leadership in the right way on and off the ice."

Andrew Ference is looking to take on a much bigger leadership role with the Bruins this season.
With the departure of Mark Recchi it appears the Bruins are in the hunt for a new leader. While Zdeno Chara is still the big man in the locker room, Ference says he is ready for the challenge as well. "I think you have a responsibility to add what you can to the dressing room. I don't think it changes who you are or what you should be." Look for Ference to don the "A" on his sweater sooner rather than later.
