Meszaros (hand) won't play Monday against the Caps.
With both Meszaros and Zach Bogosian sidelined, look for the Sabres to recall a blueliner in advance of Monday's contest.

Meszaros suffered a hand injury Monday morning, reports Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald.
The extent of Meszaros' injury is still unknown, but it's believed to be a re-aggravated injury. Chad Ruhwedel is reportedly being called up, which means Meszaros is expected to miss at least a game or two. Meszaros has been a marginal player for the Sabres this season, sometimes sitting as a healthy scratch, and has nine points in 48 games so far. Last Saturday against Washington, Meszaros left the game early after taking a shot from Brooks Laich, but did not miss any games, but it looks like he'll be missing tonight's re-match against Washington.

Based on warmups, Meszaros (upper body) is in line to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
With both Meszaros (who has nine points in 46 games to date) and Zach Bogosian in line to suit up Wednesday, Andre Benoit looks set to be the Sabres' scratch on defense for the contest.

Meszaros (upper body) participated in the Sabres' morning skate and could be in the lineup Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
While an injured player's participation in morning skate is normally an indicator that he'll play, coach Ted Nolan wouldn't firmly commit to Meszaros being in the lineup. Instead, with Zach Bogosian (lower body) also a bit banged up, the Sabres will have seven defensemen take part in pregame warmups. Nolan said he would let the six healthiest defensemen play, and there's no guarantee that Meszaros will be among that group. His status should be known one way or the other by the conclusion of the warmup.

Maestros, who suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday's loss to the Capitals, practiced fully Tuesday and says he's ready to go Wednesday when the Sabres play in Toronto, The Buffalo News reports.
Meszaros was considered unlikely to play Wednesday, but apparently he's rallied and sounds like he'll return earlier than expected. We'll note that coach Ted Nolan hasn't signed off yet, so we'll wait for official word from the team when they set Wednesday's blue line pairings following the morning skate.

Meszaros, who suffered an upper-body injury Saturday, will not play Wednesday against Toronto, reports Paul Hamilton of WGR 550.
The Sabres don't play the Leafs until Wednesday, which means that Meszaros' injury is serious enough that he's already been ruled out. The veteran defenseman played just 3:05 against Washington on Saturday before leaving the game early and there is no timetable for his return or any more detailed information on his injury. Nikita Zadorov, a healthy scratch Saturday, will likely step in.

Meszaros (upper body) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs.
Meszaros departed from Saturday's tilt with the Capitals due to the upper-body injury and did not return, and coach Ted Nolan indicated after the game that Meszaros "could miss a little while." The fact that he is at least questionable for Wednesday's game is a good sign, as the blueliner's issue may not cause him to miss as much time as Nolan's comments initially seemed to indicate.

Head coach Ted Nolan said Meszaros "could miss a little while" with the upper-body injury he suffered Saturday night, the Olean Times Herald reports.
Nolan also said he doesn't think Meszaros will be out "too long," so his expected return date is rather vague. His injury will likely pave the way for Nikita Zadorov, who served as a healthy scratch Saturday, to rejoin the lineup.

Meszaros bagged a goal, spent two minutes in the penalty box, and submitted a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers.
Meszaros has points in three straight and goals in back-to-back games, a surprising development after he found the net just once in his first 41 games with the Sabres. The blueliner was a reasonably prized commodity at the trade deadline last season, but his downturn in performance since joining the Sabres probably won't allow him to generate much interest from other teams leading up to Monday's deadline.
