Burrows registered a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Burrows skated predominantly on the third line with Jared McCann and Jannik Hansen, but that didn't stop him from putting up a multi-point effort to open the 2015-16 season. The feisty forward's upside is capped as long as he's denied a top-six role, but he has the skills to move up in the lineup if he can stay focused on putting pucks in the net.

Burrows finished the 2015 NHL preseason with just one assist in five games.
EDGE Analysis
It was a very quiet preseason for Burrows, who fired just six shots on goal and finished with a minus-3 rating. As long as the 34-year-old can stick in a top-six role, he should have no problem finding twine. Burrows potted 18 goals in 70 games last season and had recorded at least 25 goals in each of his previous four full seasons. He doesn't rack up a ton of points, but Burrows puts up strong PIM totals and shoots the puck alot, so he's worth owning in many fantasy formats. If the former 35-goal-scorer gets the chance to play with the Sedin twins, he could be in for a very productive season. He may be aging, but Burrows still has a lethal shot and can help in a variety of fantasy categories.

Burrows is fully recovered from the fractured rib and dislocated rib cartilage he suffered during the playoffs last spring, the Vancouver Province's Ben Kuzma reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burrows said he was able to begin rehabbing in early June and resume his normal offseason training regimen by July, putting him on track to enter camp as a full participant. The 34-year-old, who was able to rebound from a disappointing 2013-14 campaign with 18 goals last season, is set to play on either the first line with the Sedin brothers or the second line with offseason center pickup Brandon Sutter.

Burrows confirmed Monday that the injury that kept him out of the Canucks' final three playoff games involved fractured and dislocated rib cartilage. Per the report, Burrows initially suffered the injury in Game 3 of the team's recent series against the Flames, and then aggravated the issue while taking a shot in practice. In any case, the 34-year-old winger -- who notched 18 goals, 33 points and 68 PIM in 70 regular season games for the Canucks in 2014-15 -- now has the entire offseason to heal up. He's under contract with the Canucks for two more seasons, at a cap hit of $4.5 million.

Burrows (rib) will not be available for the remainder of the Canucks' current playoff series against the Flames. On the plus side, coach Willie Desjardins relayed Wednesday that Burrows' injury is "nothing serious," which suggests that there's some chance that the forward -- who remains in Calgary at this time -- could potentially return to postseason action in the event that the Canucks are able to rally from a 3-1 series deficit to advance to the second-round of the playoffs.

Burrows (rib) was not present for practice Wednesday. Per Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, Burrows, who landed in a Calgary hospital after suffering a broken rib Tuesday, has yet to return to Vancouver, where the Canucks play on Thursday, so it appears safe to rule Burrows out for Game 5 of the team's opening round playoff series that evening.

Burrows (rib) was scheduled to be released from the hospital Tuesday night, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports. Burrows was sent off the ice on a stretcher following Tuesday's morning skate for what was later reported to be a broken rib. The injury kept him out of Game 4 against the Flames and puts his availability in serious question for the remainder of the series. With Burrows unavailable, Brandon McMillan entered the lineup Tuesday in his stead.

Burrows was diagnosed with a broken rib after departing Tuesday's morning skate, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Burrows' removal from practice and subsequent hospitalization seemed to something highly serious was in play, but it appears the Canucks sent the ambulance just for precautionary reasons. Nonetheless, the rib injury will still prevent Burrows from suiting up Tuesday's Game 4, and quite possibly, the remainder of the series and beyond. With the winger unavailable, Sven Baertschi was recalled from AHL Utica on Tuesday and will enter the lineup for his postseason debut.

The Canucks announced that Burrows, who sustained an upper-body injury at practice Tuesday, was subsequently taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. While the nature of Burrows' injury has yet to be clarified, the team's statement indicating that he was taken to the hospital as a precaution offers hope that the forward avoided a serious injury. The report confirms that Burrows will not play Tuesday night against the Flames.

Burrows (undisclosed) left Tuesday's morning skate in an ambulance, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports. It was initially reported that Burrows merely suffered a minor injury, but the need for a stretcher and ambulance hints strongly at something more serious. The Canucks are expected to make a statement shortly.
