Alex Burrows is out indefinitely with a broken jaw. Burrows suffered the injury when he was hit by Chris Tanev's clearing attempt on Sunday. He still managed to return and finish that game, but it sounds like he'll need to miss about a month to recover. He typically brings provides fantasy owners with at least 25 goals and 100 penalty minutes, but this season he has just three assists, 17 penalty minutes, and a minus-seven rating in 17 games.

Alex Burrows returned to action Sunday after getting hit by a Chris Tanev shot earlier in the game. The shot hit Burrows in the jaw causing bleeding inside his mouth and cutting his neck. He needed only one stitch but was worried when he saw all the bleeding as he thought about the incident in 1989 when goaltender Clint Malarchuk almost bled to death from a skate cut on his neck. "I lost a few pieces of teeth inside," Burrows said. "But it was just more scary that I didn't know what was happening on the outside. Inside my mouth, it was filling up with blood. I put my hand on my neck and I saw a lot of blood right away. That's why I kind of panicked a little bit and tried to get off the ice. I remember as a kid, watching Clint Malarchuk. I remember my parents saying: 'If anything like that ever happens to you, get off the ice and see a doctor as fast as you can.' Obviously, it was far from as serious as that." Burrows is having a poor season with only three assists and a minus-seven rating in 17 games.

Alex Burrows is getting frustrated that he has yet to score a goal this season. Burrows has played 13 games with three assists and no goals. "The worst part is you feel like you let your teammates down and it's not a good feeling," said Burrows. "A goal here and there could change the story line at the end of the night. You have to put in the extra work. Work harder in the gym and on the ice and prepare harder. Eat better and sleep better and if you do all those things, you're going to get your luck." Burrows is too good a player to remain in this slump so he is a good buy low candidate at this time.

Right winger Alex Burrows hit the post in Vancouver's 2-1 loss to Dallas Sunday night but he hasn't scored in the nine games he's played since returning from a foot fracture. "I'm still stuck at zero but I've got to stay positive," said Burrows. "I've been through this before. It's not the best shot, they just find a way to trickle in."

Alex Burrows was back on the top line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin on Saturday. The Canucks moved Ryan Kesler down to center the second line with Jannik Hansen and Christopher Higgins. Burrows suffered a broken foot earlier in the season and missed 12 games but is rounding into form. He has only three assists in nine games with a minus-four rating but is set to get out of his slump as he should see plenty of ice time and chances with the Sedin twins.

Alex Burrows has recorded two assists in a 4-2 victory against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Burrows has been limited to just six games this season due to a broken foot and he didn't record a point in his previous five contests. He should heat up as the season progresses and while he's not likely to have much more than 40 points by the end of 2013-14, he's also likely to give you about a penalty minute per contest.

Alex Burrows (foot) is slated to return to action this week. It's good news for Burrows, the Canucks and his fantasy owners but he may not start on the first line with the Sedin twins as the Canucks are coming off a seven game road trip in which they went 5-1-1 and coach John Tortorella may not want to upset the chemistry. He should help the power play as it is sixth worst in the NHL.
