Semin (upper body) is on track to return to action Thursday, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' website reports. Semin took part in Thursday's morning skate, which gives him a chance to play Thursday night for the first time since Dec. 21. Semin (upper body) will not return to the lineup Friday versus the Flyers, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. Coach Bill Peters said that while Semin has been able to resume skating with the team over the last few days, he still needs to get back to full speed before becoming a lineup option. Expect the Hurricanes to revisit his condition at Saturday's practice before determining if he'll be good to for Sunday's tilt with the Bruins.

Semin (upper body) will remain out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Penguins. Semin resumed practicing earlier this week, but since he was still skating as an extra at Wednesday's morning skate, it doesn't appear that he's quite ready for a return. After Wednesday's contest, the Hurricanes will have a pair of games over the weekend, which could be a realistic target for Semin's addition to the lineup.

Semin (upper body) is practicing Tuesday, NHL.com's Michael Smith reports. Semin hasn't played since Dec. 21, but he may have a shot to return for Wednesday's contest in Pittsburgh. He has six points (one goal) in 22 appearances this season, and is averaging just 1.27 shots on goal per game.

Semin (upper body) will not play in Saturday's game against the Lightning. Semin didn't even travel with the team to Tampa Bay, suggesting he might not be particularly close to a return. Despite the name recognition he carries, savvy fantasy owners probably shouldn't count on him at this point, as injuries and ineffectiveness have diminished most of his value. He's been limited to just 22 games this season and has provided one goal, six points and a minus-9 rating during that time.

Semin (upper body) will miss Tuesday's game against the Jets, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Semin's absence from practice Monday foreshadowed his unavailability for Tuesday's contest against the Devils. The Hurricanes recalled Brendan Woods on Monday, who will likely draw into the lineup Tuesday in Semin's place. The team has a three-day Christmas break following Tuesday's contest, which could allow him to return for the team's next game Saturday against the Lightning.

Semin (undisclosed) didn't take part in Carolina's practice Monday, Michael Smith of Hurricanes.NHL.com reports. Semin was likely held out of practice for maintenance reasons, although it might be worth keeping an eye on with Monday's recall of Brendan Woods. The 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday's game against the Devils as a result of his absence from Monday's practice.

Semin was activated from injured reserve Saturday and will return to the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. Semin's injury has cost a couple of weeks, but he will finally return to the lineup. He has just one goal in 21 games this season, a ratio the Sabres would like to improve drastically moving forward.
