Alex Pietrangelo has gone 26 straight games without a goal. Obviously, these kind of droughts are different when it comes to defensemen, but Pietrangelo has been a bit streaky with his goal scoring this season. He didn't find the back of the net in his first eight games and then he scored goals in four straight games from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2. "Petro has created a lot of offensive zone time," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "I think our one concern with him is that we need him to get the shots through the first layer of coverage. There's too many blocked shots." He has 24 points and a plus-12 rating in 38 matches.

Alex Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester had different defense partners on Monday night. Pietrangelo was paired with Barret Jackman and Bouwmeester skated alongside Roman Polak "We weren't playing very good defensively and we needed to make some adjustments," coach Ken Hitchcock said before the team's 3-2 overtime loss to Ottawa. "We've got to get more continuity and better play back there. Our transition game from our exits was too inconsistent. I thought changing the pairs gave them a different focus."

Alex Pietrangelo suffered an injury scare Thursday when a shot deflected off his helmet. The play occurred in first period when a shot by Islanders defenseman Andrew MacDonald sent him into the dressing room. Pietrangelo was able to return before the period ended and he stayed in the fold for the rest of the contest. In 20:48 of ice time, he had a plus-2 rating and two shots. He is currently mired in a five-game pointless skid and he hasn't scored a goal since Nov. 2. It shouldn't take him very long to get back on track.

Alex Pietrangelo collected two assists in a 6-1 win Saturday. Pietrangelo has four goals and 18 points in 22 games this season. That's good enough to put him in a tie for fourth place among defensemen in the scoring race. He probably won't maintain his current pace, but he should comfortably surpass the 40-point mark.

Alex Pietrangelo scored for the Blues in their 4-2 loss to the Lightning on Saturday night. The defenseman is on fire, with goals in four straight games and six points in that span. Pietrangelo could very well win the Norris Trophy this season. Jaden Schwartz picked up the other goal. Vladimir Sobotka had a game-low minus-three rating.

Pietrangelo also has 22 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating. He is one of the top all-around blueliners in the league and he should be able to surpass 50 points for the second time in his career this year.

Alex Pietrangelo (upper body) is available for Friday's game. Pietrangelo's status was put into doubt after he left Saturday's practice before it's conclusion. He sustained the ailment while blocking at shot during St. Louis' game on Oct. 18.

The St. Louis Blues said that Alex Pietrangelo suffered an upper-body injury blocking a shot at the end of Friday's game against the Winnipeg Jets. The talented (and well-compensated) blueliner might practice on Monday. If he misses significant time it would be a big loss for the Blues and fantasy owners alike, even if he's slowed down a bit lately (one assist in his last four games after getting five in his first three).

Alex Pietrangelo has compiled five assists in three games this season. "It's been a group effort and everybody is contributing. I'm just trying to shoot the puck as much as I can," he said. "Get the puck in the forwards' hands. They have the opportunity to create plays. Trying not to force it too much, but when the opportunity is there, jump in." Pietrangelo has been credited with four shots and a plus-3 rating. He needs three more helpers to reach 100 for his career.
