Adam Foote will have his No. 52 jersey retired by the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Nov. 2.
He played 17 of his 19 NHL seasons with the Avalanche/Nordiques and is the second-highest scoring defenseman in the franchise's history with 259 points in 967 games. Foote was also part of the team's Stanley Cup victories in 1996 and 2001.

Adam Foote will work with the Colorado Avalanche as a part-time coach next season.
He is expected to work with the defensemen, but he won't travel with the team. Foote spent the vast majority of his career playing for the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise, so his addition to the organization isn't surprising.

Adam Foote may return to the Colorado Avalanche soon but not in a major role.
Hockey reporter Adrian Dater of the Denver Post wrote that he's hearing this: "Adam Foote will be brought aboard as a part-time coach to work with defensemen. Foote doesn't want to travel much at all, because he wants to still coach his youngest son on his local youth team." With Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic both taking on a lot of responsibility with Colorado, there's been speculation that Foote would want to get involved in the new hierarchy, as well.

Adam Foote probably won't rejoin the Avalanche's organization in a major role next season.
With Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic both taking on a lot of responsibility with the Avalanche, it's natural to wonder if Foote might come back too. The former Avalanche captain is excited about Roy taking over as the team's bench boss, but Foote wants to focus on coaching his son. Consequently, Foote probably won't be one of Roy's assistant coaches, but he might help the Avalanche in some other capacity. Foote also thinks that the Avalanche still need to add a top-three blueliner to their core. Seth Jones seems like a logical fit, although Foote was hesitant to speculate about Jones specifically because Foote hasn't seen him play much.
