Ekblad (concussion) has been ruled out for both Sunday and Monday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Ekblad won't play either of the next two games, he did skate Saturday and is thought to be an option for Friday's game against the Blackhawks. However, the team should provide another update at some point during the week confirming his status.

Ekblad (concussion) was back at practice Saturday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ekblad's ailment caused him to miss the past two games, but his return to practice bodes well for his chances to suit up Sunday afternoon against the Lightning. We expect the Panthers to shed more light on his availability before puck drop for that game.

Ekblad (concussion) won't play Wednesday against the Flames, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's hardly surprising that Ekblad won't be able to go Wednesday, as he's still in the league's concussion protocol, which he'll have to complete before returning to game action. Expect an update on the star blueliner's status ahead of Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay.

Ekblad is out of Monday's lineup against the Canucks, and is in the league's concussion protocol, John Shannon of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ekblad took a hit in Sunday's game that will end up costing him at least Monday's contest as well. Steve Kampfer has been activated from injured reserve and will draw into the lineup in his place, making the defenseman's next chance to return Wednesday against the Flames.

Ekblad beat the keeper to record his ninth goal of the season Sunday against Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
Ekblad snagged five goals in 13 games during December. Despite playing on Florida's top power-play unit, the 19-year-old has just five points with the extra attacker. The defenseman leads the team in shots on goal, and will look to continue peppering opposing netminders Tuesday against Montreal.

Ekblad collected a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard to believe that Ekblad is still a teenager, but the former number one overall pick is quickly developing into one of the best defensemen in the NHL. He now has five goals and seven assists through 27 games on the year.

Ekblad scored a goal in Tuesday's victory over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Ekblad took a season-high five shots on goal and was rewarded with his second goal of the season. Last season's Calder Trophy winner for rookie of the year continues to grow into his role as a top-pairing defenseman, but is just 19-years-old and could still experience growing pains along the way.

Ekblad logged his first goal of the season in a 6-2 win over host Dallas on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Did you hear that collective sigh from Ekblad owners across the land? That snaps a three-game point scoring drought for the 19-year-old. Ekblad's laser, one of four shots on the night, chased Dallas' starting goaltender Kari Lehtonen early in the second period. Although the former first overall pick (2014) has just three points, Ekblad had just two points through his first eight games in last season. Hang tight, the young blue liner and his upstart Panthers are just getting started.

Ekblad has two assists, but is without a goal after the first five games of the 2015-16 season.
EDGE Analysis
Last season's Calder Trophy winner has unquestionable ability, but his production so far has lagged behind the rate at which he scored last season. Both of Ekblad's assists have come on the power play, while he scored only a third of his 39 points last season with the man-advantage. This is likely a result of Ekblad playing about three minutes less per game at even strength this season.

Ekblad won the 2015 Calder Memorial Trophy for being the NHL's best first-year player on Wednesday night.
At just 18 years old, Ekblad put together a fantastic rookie campaign, playing in 81 games and finishing fourth on the Panthers in points, scoring 12 goals and recording 27 assists. Ekblad clearly has a bright future, despite the fact that his team's future remains cloudy.
