Ekblad extended his point streak to five games and goal streak to three games, and on the season the blueliner is keeping himself in the Norris Trophy discussion with 13 goals, 47 points and a stunning plus-35 rating through 49 contests.

Ekblad scored a power-play goal on four shots, dished an assist, blocked three shots and went plus-4 in Friday's 6-2 win over the Wild.

Ekblad helped out on Anthony Duclair's tally in the second period, and the winger returned the favor on Ekblad's tally in the third. The 26-year-old defenseman is on a four-game point streak with two goals and four assists. He's racked up 12 goals, 45 points, 145 shots on net, a plus-35 rating and 52 blocked shots in 48 outings overall. He's already enjoyed career-best production on offense and still has plenty of time to push for the 70-point mark.

Ekblad scored the winning goal in overtime to go with an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Hurricanes.

With Florida riding the momentum from its game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation, Ekblad needed just 16 seconds to win it in overtime. Earlier in the game, he set up Aleksander Barkov for Florida's first goal. Ekblad has already set a new career high with 43 points, and he still has 34 regular-season games left to add to that total.

Ekblad dropped two assists in a 5-3 win over the Jets on Tuesday.

Ekblad provided assists on the go-ahead and put-away goals for the Panthers in this one on the way to picking up his 28th and 29th assists of the season. The 25-year-old defenseman has been in the league for a long time at this point, but is finding really unprecedented offensive success this season on a per-game basis, with 39 points in 42 contests.

Remarkably, Ekblad has three, three-point games in his last five contests to drive up his season total to 35 points in 37 games. Ekblad is knotted with Cale Makar for fourth in the NHL, behind Victor Hedman, Roman Josi and Adam Fox.

It was a well-rounded performance from the 25-year-old, who chipped in three shots, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. Ekblad has a goal and seven points in his last four games, boosting his production on the season to 10 goals and 32 points through 35 contests with 108 shots on goal, 33 hits, 40 blocked shots and a plus-23 rating.
