He's not an overly exciting fantasy kicker headed into next Monday night's game against the Rams.

The Falcons attempted a two-point conversion on each of their second-half touchdowns, so Gonzalez went almost the entire third and fourth quarters without taking the field. However, Atlanta drove down the field in the final two minutes of game time and called upon Gonzalez for a 43-yard field-goal try with four seconds left on the clock. The veteran kicker converted to give the Falcons the win. Since taking over as the team's kicker Week 10 against Indianapolis, Gonzalez has made 11 of 13 field-goal tries and 10 of 10 PATs.

Gonzalez went 3-of-4 on field-goal attempts in Sunday's 37-9 loss to the Seahawks.

Atlanta will make room for Gonzalez on its roster by waiving incumbent kicker Parker Romo, whose missed extra-point attempt in this past Sunday's game against the Patriots proved to be the difference in a 24-23 loss. Gonzalez, who had been a free agent since being cut by Washington in April, brings ample NFL experience to the table, though he's rarely performed well enough to earn a long-term stay at any of his four stops since entering the league in 2017. The 30-year-old has converted field goals at an 80 percent clip across stints with the Browns, Cardinals, Panthers and Commanders over parts of six seasons.

The Commanders are releasing Gonzalez on Tuesday after having signed Matt Gay, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Gonzalez performed admirably for Washington after Austin Seibert (groin) was lost to injury in Week 12 last year, suiting up for six regular-season games and three postseason contests.
