Lions LB Zack Follett (neck) was a full participant as the team opened training camp on Friday. Follett's neck injury was originally believed to be degenerative and career-threatening, but he's received full medical clearance. "I never thought I'd have a helmet on again," he conceded. "This is a big blessing, and I'm very thankful." Follett will compete for a backup job and on special teams.

According to MLive.com's Tom Kowalski, there are "some indications" that Lions LB Zack Follett (neck) is hoping to play in 2011. Follett said in January that his career was essentially over thanks to his degenerative neck ailment, but has apparently found some optimism. If he can pass a physical, he'd have a decent chance at making the Lions as a reserve linebacker/special teamer.
