League sources tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that free agent SS William Moore is "interested in testing" the open market. He may not get that chance if the Falcons slap Moore with the franchise tag. A movable chess piece playmaker in Mike Nolan's defense, Moore was an integral part of the Falcons' pass-coverage and run-defense schemes. Moore turns 28 in May. He's one of the top free agent safeties available, behind Jairus Byrd.

ESPN's Adam Schefter calls impending free agent SS William Moore a "prime candidate" for the Falcons' franchise tag. A three-year starter and cornerstone of the Falcons' secondary, Moore is hoping to test his value on the open market. He might not get there. The tentative franchise tag number for safeties in 2013 is a relatively inexpensive $6.798 million. The Falcons could very well slap Moore with the tag and the evaluate the situation in 2014 -- when he'll be entering his age-29 season.

Falcons SS William Moore was spotted with a black cast around his right hand at Wednesday's practice. Moore participated in full, but declined to comment on the hand wrap. It's not a major concern, and it would obviously only affect his ability to catch the ball. Moore did say that his hamstring injury that forced him to miss the final four games of the regular season "felt real good."

Falcons SS William Moore (hamstring) and DE John Abraham (ankle) were limited in practice on Wednesday. Moore missed the final four weeks of the regular season, but that coupled with the team's first-round bye is expected to be enough time for him to return against the Seahawks. Abraham is fully expected to play on Sunday despite being carted off the field in Week 17.

Falcons SS William Moore (hamstring) is inactive for Week 15 versus the Giants. It's a big loss for the Falcons secondary, especially with Asante Samuel likely to be limited by his shoulder injury. This game offered plenty of shoot-out potential even before factoring in the injuries to both defensive backfields. The rest of the Falcons inactives: QB Dominique Davis, WR Tim Toone, OG Phillip Manley, OG Harland Gunn, DE Lawrence Sidbury, and TE Chase Coffman.

Falcons SS William Moore (hamstring) did not practice on Friday. This doesn't bode well for Moore's Week 15 status. Moore was inactive last week following his huge Week 13 performance against New Orleans when he put up 11 total tackles and two picks. Chris Hope got the start in his place, and will do so again if Moore remains sidelined.
