The NFL reinstated Hill from the reserve/suspended list Tuesday, Howard Balzer of the Sports Exchange reports.

EDGE Analysis

On the same day in which he was released by Baltimore in March, Hill received a 10-game ban for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. There may have been no coincidence, but the safety is nonetheless able to sign with any organization at the moment. In 50 career games with the Giants and Ravens, Hill has recorded 221 tackles (167 solo), four interceptions (two pick-sixes), three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one sack.

Hill has been suspended for 10 games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

EDGE Analysis

The report follows news earlier Wednesday that the Ravens had released Hill, who now faces the fourth, and longest suspension of his NFL career.

The Ravens have released Hill, the Baltimore Sun reports.

EDGE Analysis

The move frees up just over $3 million in salary cap space for the Ravens and sets the stage for converted cornerback Lardarius Webb to start at safety for the team in 2016 alongside free agent signee Eric Weddle.

Hill finished the 2015 season with 64 tackles (49 solo), an interception and a sack in 15 games.

EDGE Analysis

Hill doesn't make many big plays or accumulate gaudy tackle totals, but he's been the most consistent player in a shaky defensive backfield over the past two seasons, rarely giving up big gains in coverage. He's locked in as a starter for 2016, albeit with minimal IDP appeal.

Hill signed a two-year contract extension with the Ravens, ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hill, who is locked in as a starter next to Kendrick Lewis, would have been an unrestricted free agent after the season. He's been suspended three times through his first three seasons in the league, but his on-field effectiveness has never been an issue. Hill could be a sneakily productive IDP option, as he figures to spend more time up in the box this season, with Lewis playing more of a center-field role.

Hill is expected to shift from free safety to strong safety in 2015, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Hill will compete with former first-round draft pick Matt Elam for the starting job, but it would be a major upset if Elam actually emerges victorious. Hill was the most reliable member of the Baltimore secondary by the end of last season, and a shift to strong safety should lead to some added tackle opportunities. Offseason acquisition Kendrick Lewis is the favorite to start at free safety.

Hill has signed his restricted free agent tender for $1.542 million, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Hill has been effective when on the field over the last few seasons, but his long history of off-field issues allowed the Ravens to get away with giving him a low tender. Having not received any offer sheets as a restricted free agent, Hill will be back as the Ravens' starting free safety in 2015. He's an interesting target for deeper IDP leagues, but his role in Baltimore's defense isn't conducive to huge tackle totals.

Hill had three tackles (two solo) in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Jaguars.

Hill isn't putting up huge numbers, but he's easily the most reliable safety in a shaky Baltimore secondary. Since moving into an every-down role, he has 26 tackles (18 solo), one interception and three passes defensed over six games. After character concerns and a six-game suspension forced him to settle for a one-year contract on the cheap, Hill has seemingly re-established some of his value, though he's still unlikely to get a contract that aligns with his on-field ability.

Hill had an interception return for touchdown in Monday's 34-27 win over the Saints.

Hill solidified his role in the starting lineup by providing the type of big play that Baltimore's secondary has been unable to produce all season. Hill only had four tackles (two solo) in the game, but we saw last season what he's capable of doing when not suspended. The Ravens finally have a safety worth of IDP consideration.

Making his first start of the season, Hill recorded six tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 43-23 loss to the Steelers.

Hill made a few nice plays against the run but struggled against the pass, which has largely been the story for all of Baltimore's safeties this season. The playing time has been divided differently in each of the last four games, and while Hill could easily get another start in Week 10, most IDP owners are probably best off steering clear of the Baltimore secondary.
