Compton announced his retirement via his personal Twitter feed Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Compton last suited up with the Raiders in 2021 and spent the second half of the 2022 campaign on the Falcons' practice squad. However, the 33-year-old will elect to call it a career after spending nine years in the NFL. He totaled 358 tackles (210 solo), including a sack, three interceptions, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 12 pass defenses.

Compton signed a contract with the Falcons on Monday, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Compton has yet to play this season after being released by the Raiders at the end of the 2021 campaign. The 33-year-old linebacker has primarily played on special teams over the past two seasons, and he recorded one tackle on 32 special-teams snaps over two games with Las Vegas last year. Compton should have chance to carve out a role as a core special teamer with the Atlanta this season.

Compton was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Compton hasn't played since Week 14 due to missing time because of a personal matter, then being placed in COVID protocols. Now healthy, Compton should suit up Sunday against the Chargers and provide depth at linebacker.

Compton (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, as a result of testing positive for the virus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Compton has missed the last two weeks due to personal reasons, and now he is in danger of missing more time after landing in COVID protocols. The Raiders' linebacker unit has been hit hard by COVID in the last 24 hours, so if Compton can gain clearance, he could potentially play a large role Sunday against the Colts.

Compton (personal) will not play Sunday against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Compton will miss his second straight game due to personal reasons. With Denzel Perryman (ankle) returning, Compton would have played a depth role in the Raiders' linebacker unit. Instead, Divine Deablo and Patrick Onwuasor will likely take on any extra work.

Compton (personal) will not play Monday against the Browns, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Compton's absence will stretch the Raiders thin at linebacker. With Denzel Perryman (ankle) also out, the Raiders will likely need both of Divine Deablo and Patrick Onwuasor to step up into larger roles.

Compton was signed to the Raiders' active roster Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Compton is a nine-year veteran who has bounced around the league a bit since he left Washington after the 2017 season. With Denzel Perryman and Nick Kwiatkoski both out Sunday against the Chiefs due to ankle injuries, Compton will have a chance to fill a significant role in the Raiders' linebacker unit.
