Varga opted to retire from the NFL on Tuesday, John Kryk of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Varga suffered a concussion roughly nine months ago, but earlier this month was cleared to return to football activities. Despite previous reports indicating he intended to play during the 2016 season, Varga has now changed his mind and will hang up the cleats, as he doesn't want to risk his future health any further. Varga spent just one year in the league, seeing action in three games, while providing two rushing yards and 18 reception yards.

Varga (concussion) has been cleared for football activities and intends to play in 2016, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It has been roughly nine months since Varga suffered the concussion, but the running back will indeed make a second attempt to crack the Colts' 53-man roster. "It comes down to this: I'm back here because I want to compete again," Varga declared. Unfortunately for Varga, though, he won't be competing against an injured Dan Herron and Vick Ballard this time around. Instead, he'll be squaring off with Robert Turbin, Jordan Todman, Trey Williams and rookie Josh Ferguson for a role behind the incumbent starter, Frank Gore.

Varga has made Indianapolis' 53-man roster, the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Varga, an undrafted rookie out of Yale, gained 37 yards on nine carries and 17 yards on two receptions (four targets) in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals. With the release of Zurlon Tipton, he'll enter the season as fifth on the depth chart. However, he could enter Week 1 as the backup to Frank Gore as Dan Herron, Josh Robinson and Vick Ballard ended the preseason with injuries.

Colts owner Jim Irsay suggested that the team will have a difficult decision to make on Varga, Steve Andress of CBS 4 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Varga, an undrafted rookie out of Yale, gained 37 yards on nine carries and 17 yards on two receptions (four targets) in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals. More important for his roster chances, both Dan Herron (chest/shoulder) and Vick Ballard (hamstring) appeared to suffer injuries during the game. Varga still doesn't figure to have a role in the offense to start the season, but his ability to contribute on special teams could help him earn one of the final roster spots.
