Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Tagovailoa is dealing with back and ankle soreness and was noncommittal about his status for Thursday's game against the Bengals, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tagovailoa briefly exited during the second quarter of Sunday's narrow win over the Bills, when he stumbled to his feet following a sack, but McDaniel confirms that the quarterback isn't in the concussion protocol, per Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post. It sounds like the Dolphins will monitor Tagovailoa throughout practice this week before making a decision about his status for Thursday. If Tagovailoa can't go on a short week, it would fall to Teddy Bridgewater to attempt to keep Miami's offense on track.

Tagovailoa, who completed 13 of 18 passes for 186 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and netted no gain on one rush in the Dolphins' 21-19 win over the Bills on Sunday, dealt with a back injury during the first half, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year quarterback exited the game late in the first half with what was believed to be a head injury and was eventually cleared of a concussion. Tagovailoa was able to play the second half without interruption, but Rapoport notes the signal-caller's back was injured on a first-quarter sneak before locking up after the second-quarter sack that forced him from the contest. Nevertheless, Tagovailoa's ability to finish the game and his highly efficient performance overall are both highly encouraging with a short week ahead of a Week 4 road matchup against the Bengals on Thursday night.

Tagovailoa completed 36 of 50 passes for 469 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions in the Dolphins' 42-38 win over the Ravens on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard.
EDGE Analysis
After facing no shortage of adversity over his first two-plus seasons, Tagovailoa appeared to be on a mission to silence his ample pool of doubters in one half during a miraculous comeback Sunday. The 2020 first-round pick unsurprisingly focused heaviest on his explosive wideout duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to the tune of 22 completions, 361 yards and four of his touchdown passes, but he also connected with Mike Gesicki and River Cracraft for his two other scores. Tagovailoa began the comeback with a 14-yard scoring toss to the veteran tight end in the third quarter, while 48- and 60-yard connections with Hill in the fourth quarter led to a 35-35 tie. The third-year signal-caller then topped off his career-best effort with a seven-yard scoring throw to Waddle for Miami's final points of the day with 14 seconds remaining. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins' lethal air attack may have quite the task putting together a successful encore, however, as a Week 3 home matchup against the Bills awaits next Sunday.

Tagovailoa completed 23 of 33 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 20-7 win over the Patriots. He also rushed twice for no gain.
EDGE Analysis
After the defenses dominated for most of the first half, Tagovailoa finally produced the game's first offensive touchdown in the final minute of the second quarter by perfectly leading Jaylen Waddle, who outraced New England's secondary to the end zone to give the Dolphins a 17-0 lead. With Waddle and Tyreek Hill racking up plenty of yards after the catch, Tua's set up for success without taking too many chances downfield. He'll lead the Dolphins into Baltimore for Miami's first road game of the season in Week 2.

Tagovailoa completed six of seven passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 48-10 preseason win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Tagovailoa uncorked a deep pass on the first play of the game, connecting with Tyreek Hill for a 51-yard completion. He otherwise completed passes in the short and intermediate areas of the field and was sharp for the second consecutive exhibition game. Tagovailoa will head into the regular season with plenty of momentum, as he completed 12 of 15 passes for 179 yards in two preseason contests.

Tagovailoa is available to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Eagles, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed) isn't in line to play in the contest, fellow WR Tyreek Hill is available, but if Tagovailoa does indeed play Saturday, we'd expect his reps to be capped.

Sat 8/20/22 11:29 PM

Tagovailoa completed six of eight passes for 58 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Dolphins' 15-13 preseason loss to the Raiders on Saturday night.
EDGE Analysis
Tagovailoa led a pair of relatively short drives to open the game and was able to help put the Dolphins in position for a Jason Sanders 46-yard field goal at the conclusion of the latter one. The 2020 first-round pick connected with four different targets during his brief time on the field while playing without both Tyreek Hill (coach's decision) and Jaylen Waddle (coach's decision), and Saturday night's action may have been the extent of what he'll see this preseason in the interest of keeping him healthy.

Tagovailoa is expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dolphins have a few big names sitting out, including WR Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed), LT Terron Armstead and CB Xavien Howard. On the other hand, Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill aren't listed among the names not expected to play, suggesting they'll suit up and take some snaps together for the first time outside a practice setting.
