Simpson recorded 66 total tackles (34 solo), including 2.5 sacks, and one pass defensed across 17 regular-season games in 2025.
EDGE Analysis
Despite appearing in all 17 of the Ravens' games this season, the Clemson product started just six contests and primarily served as the team's top reserve inside linebacker behind Roquan Smith and Teddye Buchanan (knee, IR). Even so, Simpson tallied a career-high 2.5 sacks and finished with only seven fewer total tackles than in 2024, all while playing 213 fewer defensive snaps. With Smith and Buchanan both returning for next season, Simpson will likely play another reserve role in 2026.

Simpson totaled seven tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, in a 28-24 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson finished third on the Ravens in tackles after moving into a starting role in the wake of Teddye Buchanan landing on IR due to a season-ending torn ACL. Among Simpson's stops was a solo sack of Drake Maye in the first quarter. Simpson should continue to start in the Ravens' final two regular-season games, and he'll look to build upon his 2.5 sacks on the season, which is already a career-high mark.

Ravens defensive coordinator said Wednesday that Simpson will replace Teddye Buchanan (ACL) as the starting inside linebacker alongside Roquan Smith (knee), beginning Sunday versus the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Orr said he has "the utmost confidence" in Simpson, who racked up nine tackles (four solo) while playing 46 percent of defensive snaps during Baltimore's win over Cincinnati in Week 15, a contest that saw Buchanan depart early due to his season-ending injury. Previously, when Smith missed time early in the year, Simpson was thrust into a starting role Weeks 5 and 6. In that span, he racked up 19 total tackles (eight solo), including 1.5 sacks.

Simpson played 22 snaps (10 on defense, 12 on special teams) without showing up on the box score otherwise during the Ravens' 30-16 win over the Bears on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson started at inside linebacker in Weeks 5 and 6 and accumulated 19 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, over that span. However, the 2023 third-rounder returned to a reserve role and special-teams contributor in Week 8 due to the return of Roquan Smith. Simpson could return to a starting role against the Dolphins on Sunday if Teddye Buchanan is not cleared to play due to a calf injury.

Simpson recorded nine tackles (four solo), including 0.5 sacks, during the Ravens' loss versus the Rams on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson got the start at linebacker for the second straight week as Roquan Smith remained sidelined with a hamstring injury. Simpson ended up matching Teddye Buchanan for the most tackles on the team, bringing his total on the season up to 49 (23 solo). He will likely return to a reserve role Week 8 versus the Bears, as Smith is expected to return following the team's upcoming bye.

Simpson registered 10 tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Sunday's 44-10 loss to the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson made his second start of the season at inside linebacker due to the absence of Roquan Smith (hamstring). Simpson was on the field for 66 of 70 defensive snaps (94.3 percent) and logged double-digit tackles for the first time in his three-year NFL career. The 2023 third-rounder also recorded his first sack of the season late in the third quarter after taking down C.J. Stroud for a nine-yard loss. Simpson is up to 21 tackles (11 solo) through the first five games of the regular season.

Simpson finished the 2024 regular season with 73 tackles (40 solo), including 1.5 sacks, four pass defenses and one fumble recovery across 17 games.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson started the regular season as the Ravens' second starting inside linebacker alongside Roquan Smith. Simpson was fairly productive over Baltimore's first 11 games, accumulating 65 tackles (34 solo) over that span. However, his defensive snap count took a noticeable dip in Week 12, which coincided with more playing time for Malik Harrison and Chris Board. Simpson was completely out of the Ravens' inside-linebacker rotation following the Week 14 bye, and he was limited to special teams during Baltimore's two-game postseason run. The 2023 third-round pick will use the offseason to re-tool his skill set and look to earn his starting job back for the 2025 campaign.

Simpson recorded nine total tackles (seven solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional tackle for loss, while also defending one pass in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year linebacker from Clemson has continued to improve in his first season as a starter, with the best game of his career coming in Week 9. Simpson played 100.0 percent of Baltimore's defensive snaps for just the second time this season and was all over the field, recording one of five sacks on Bo Nix and finishing as team's second-leading tackler. Expect Simpson to continue starting alongside Roquan Smith as part of the Ravens' top inside linebacker duo ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Bengals.

Simpson tallied five tackles (two solo), a half-sack and one pass defensed during Thursday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson played 70 percent of Baltimore's defensive snaps Week 1, which is a larger workload than he handled at any point in his rookie season last year. The 2023 third-round pick is worth monitoring in all IDP formats considering the value that Baltimore's starting inside linebacker position has proven capable of providing. Simpson will look to take advantage of a plus matchup against the Ravens in Week 2.

Simpson is expected to start next to Roquan Smith at inside linebacker for the Ravens this season, Giana Han of The Baltimore Banner reports.
EDGE Analysis
Simpson only played 46 snaps on defense during his rookie campaign in 2023, but he did manage to record a sack and recover a fumble while doing so. The departure of Patrick Queen to the Steelers left a hole next to Smith at linebacker, and the Clemson product appears to be the leading candidate to fill it. With expectations of earning the role, the second-year pro has been studying tape of Queen while also forming a tighter bond with Smith. "I've definitely seen Trent take that jump this year. He's flying around, man," head coach John Harbaugh said. "He's running. He's making plays. He's confident. He's a quick learner."
