EDGE Analysis
The 2012 seventh-round selection out of Oklahoma spent his first four seasons with the Lions before his rookie deal expired this offseason. In Lewis, the Vikings will be bolstering their inside linebacker depth and adding a productive special teams player. From a fantasy aspect, however, Lewis' signing in Minnesota does not figure to have much of an impact in the IDP realm.

NFL suspended Lions LB Travis Lewis four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Lewis will miss the remainder of the regular season, but will be eligible to return for the postseason if Detroit advances. A special teamer, Lewis has six tackles in 12 games.

Lions OLB Travis Lewis "has been impressive this spring," and has a "chance" to win the starting strong-side linebacker job.
Lewis, a seventh-round pick last year, played just three snaps on defense as a rookie, but he was a four-year starter at Oklahoma. He simply doesn't have NFL caliber size (6-foot-1, 246) or speed (4.88 forty). Veteran Ashlee Palmer is the favorite for the job, and Tahir Whitehead is also in the mix.

Lions agreed to terms with seventh-round LB Travis Lewis on a four-year contract.
Lewis was a well-known player on Oklahoma's defense, racking up lots of tackles but lacking NFL-caliber measurables and rarely playing to his big name. He may end up going the same route as fellow former OU linebacker Rufus Alexander.
