Chargers released OLB Travis LaBoy. The writing was on the wall for LaBoy after San Diego used its first-round pick on Melvin Ingram. With Shaun Phillips, Jarret Johnson, Antwan Barnes, and Larry English occupying the other four OLB spots, LaBoy became expendable. The move clears $1.5 million in base salary off the books. LaBoy, 31 in August, finished last season with 38 tackles and one sack in 14 appearances.

The Union-Tribune San Diego's Kevin Acee suggests OLB Travis LaBoy could lose his roster spot after the Chargers drafted Melvin Ingram in the first round. LaBoy will be the odd man out of an outside 'backer rotation that will include Ingram, Shaun Phillips, Jarret Johnson, Antwan Barnes, and Larry English. The Chargers might try shopping LaBoy for a seventh-round pick, but they'll likely just wind up cutting him after the draft. He's 31 and owed $1.5 million.

Chargers OLB Travis LaBoy was forced from Sunday's game against the Ravens with a left knee injury, and is questionable to return. LaBoy has spent a majority of the first half in the locker room, and is likely done for the night. Antwan Barnes is now in at right outside linebacker for the Chargers.

Chargers agreed to terms with OLB Travis LaBoy on a two-year contract. It was a two-horse race between the Bolts and Seahawks. Coordinator Greg Manusky, who was in San Fran with LaBoy, may have been the deciding factor. LaBoy racked up five sacks as a backup in Manusky's defense last year, and he should make a similar impact as a situational pass rusher in San Diego.

The Seahawks are now pursuing free agent OLB Travis LaBoy. The Sacramento Bee reports that the Chargers are still in the lead. Seattle has apparently passed the 49ers in terms of interest, but they're still running second to San Diego. LaBoy's best fit would be with old pal Greg Manusky.
