Etienne rushed three times for 24 yards and caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 17-17 preseason tie against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
All four of Etienne's touches came on Jacksonville's second drive after Tank Bigsby played the first drive, though both possessions featured the rest of the team's healthy starters, including quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Etienne and Bigsby appear headed for a timeshare in the regular season, though rookie fourth-round pick Bhayshul Tuten is pushing to crack that rotation and helped his case by scoring a second-quarter touchdown with the backups Sunday. Etienne's standing in the Jaguars' backfield competition is unlikely to change in the team's preseason finale against the Dolphins on Saturday.

Etienne rushed the ball twice for six yards in Saturday's 31-25 preseason loss to the Steelers. He added one reception on one target for 10 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne was on the field for the Jaguars' first offensive drive along with the starting unit, their only drive of the contest. He played all 11 snaps, while neither Tank Bigsby nor Bhayshul Tuten saw the field. This usage won't necessarily carry forward to the regular season, but it certainly suggests that Etienne remains the Jaguars' primary running back.

Etienne and Tank Bigsby have handled the bulk of the reps alongside starting QB Trevor Lawrence in training camp, relative to the rest of the Jaguars' running back corps, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the process, Shipley suggests that the team's backfield roles are starting to be defined, with Bigsby setting the tone as a effective downhill rusher, while Etienne has been the best and most-used back in the passing game. Down the road, 2025 draftees Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen could push for playing time, but thus far, the sort of Bigsby/Etienne timeshare that was in play last season has continued during the Jaguars' ongoing training camp.

Etienne said Thursday at mandatory minicamp that new head coach Liam Coen's offense "has been getting me in a lot of space" and "always puts us in position to make plays," Garry Smits of The Florida Times-Union reports.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne expressed optimism the Jaguars' decision to draft guard Wyatt Milum in the third round of April's draft and sign five offensive linemen in free agency will lead to improvement up front, saying that across his Jacksonville career "we've been ranked 31, 32 in run blocking," but Coen and new general manager James Gladstone have demonstrated that they're "committed to the process and they know what it takes." Coen also dismissed trade rumors surrounding Etienne, saying that the 2021 first-round pick will be a key piece on offense and possesses all the elements necessary to succeed in the run game. Lastly, Etienne said Coen's scheme will have him running up the middle or off-tackle less -- situations he struggled in during the 2024 season -- and that "just not be[ing] predictable is going to help us a lot." Etienne's burst and vision indeed make him a good fit for Coen's scheme, but he faces plenty of competition from Tank Bigsby, plus fourth- and seventh-round rookies Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen.

Etienne carried the ball 13 times for 31 yards and caught three of five targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year back split the backfield workload nearly equally with Tank Bigsby, who turned 15 touches into 42 yards, but the latter also added a one-yard TD plunge to his ledger. Etienne saw a steep drop in his production in 2024 -- after topping 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first two NFL seasons, he managed only 558 yards on 150 totes for a 3.7 YPC while scoring a career-low two touchdowns. Etienne offers more than Bigsby as a receiver, catching 39 of 52 targets for 254 yards this season, and the duo will likely remain in a timeshare to begin 2025.

Etienne rushed the ball 14 times for 49 yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Titans. He added one reception on two targets for 26 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne's role continues to fluctuate every week, and he recorded a season-high 15 rushing attempts in Sunday's win. That was enough to lead the backfield, as Tank Bigsby was limited to 11 total touches. As has been the case for most of the campaign, Etienne's efficiency on the ground left plenty to be desired, though he did manage long gains of 15 and 11 yards. He also had an impressive 26-yard reception that required him to weave through multiple defenders. Though Etienne's usage is frustrating to predict, he has at least 70 yards from scrimmage in three of his last five games.

Etienne rushed the ball nine times for 22 yards in Sunday's 19-14 loss to the Raiders. He added two receptions on three targets for 15 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne saw his role diminish with the Jaguars in a tightly contested matchup. He ended up with two fewer touches than Tank Bigsby, though his inefficiency on the ground was the driving factor in his poor stat line. Etienne is likely to be stuck in a similar role in Week 17 with the Jaguars taking on the Titans in what projects to be a close but low-scoring game.

Etienne rushed 14 times for 65 yards while catching four of five targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 32-25 loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne reclaimed the lead role from Tank Bigsby, finishing with an 18-11 edge in touches after being out-touched, 19-8, by Bigsby against the Titans in Week 14. The week-to-week fluctuations limit both running backs' upside heading into an otherwise favorable Week 16 matchup against the Raiders. Etienne's 85 scrimmage yards against the Jets tied the season high he set back in Week 3 against the Bills.

Etienne rushed the ball four times for 20 yards in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Titans. He added four receptions on four targets for 50 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne saw his rushing role diminish significantly in Tank Bigsby's second game back from an ankle injury, and he was out-touched 19-8. That will make Etienne tough to trust moving forward for fantasy purposes, though he did show promise as a receiver. He finished third on the team with four targets and second in yardage -- highlighted by a 21-yard catch and run late in the first quarter.

Mon 12/2/24 12:27 PM

Etienne rushed 13 times for 46 yards and secured all three targets for 12 yards in the Jaguars' 23-20 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Etienne logged six more carries than backfield mate Tank Bigsby but couldn't muster any remarkable production against a typically stingy Texans run defense. The fourth-year back also was a modest contributor through the air while posting his second straight three-catch tally, but the outlook for all of the Jaguars' skill-position players will take at least a slight hit in a Week 14 road matchup against the Titans with Mac Jones likely filling in for Trevor Lawrence (concussion) in that contest.
