Boyle completed six of 11 passes for 61 yards in Thursday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle was in the game for New York's only touchdown drive, which was capped by a 10-yard Israel Abanikanda run in the second quarter. He came into the game after Zach Wilson and before Chris Streveler, suggesting Boyle has the upper hand on Streveler for the third-string quarterback job. Given Boyle's career 3:8 TD:INT in the NFL, he isn't a threat to usurp Wilson as Aaron Rodgers' backup.

Boyle signed a one-year contract with the Jets on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle will reunite with new Jets offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett, who the signal-caller worked with while both were with Green Bay in 2019 and 2020. The 28-year-old will presumably serve as a backup for his new team, which currently has Zach Wilson and Chris Streveler on the roster at the QB position.

Boyle (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle will sit this one out with Justin Fields and Trevor Siemian both healthy. His next opportunity to suit up will be Week 15, with the Bears on a bye next week.

The Bears signed Boyle to their active roster from Detroit's practice squad Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game versus Green Bay, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With both Justin Fields (shoulder) and Trevor Siemian (oblique) listed as questionable for Week 13, Chicago saw fit to add Boyle as a short-term insurance policy. There's a shot Boyle could be thrust into a starting role immediately, but as long as one of the aforementioned signal callers is available Sunday, Boyle should fill a reserve role.

The Lions signed Boyle to their practice squad Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle signed with the Lions last year and operated as the primary backup to Jared Goff. He drew three starts over five games and completed 61 of 94 passes for 526 yards with a 3:6 TD:INT ratio during that stretch. The Lions waived David Blough and released Tim Boyle before signing Nate Sudfeld to be the primary backup to Jared Goff to start the 2022 campaign, but Boyle will return to the team as an emergency option on the practice squad.

Boyle was released by the Lions on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle's tenure in Detroit will come to an end after just one season in a backup role with the team. The 27-year-old signal-caller saw the most significant playing time of his career in 2021, completing 61 of his 94 passes for 526 yards and a 3:6 TD:INT ratio over five games with three starts in place of an injured Jared Goff. However, Boyle appears to have lost out to David Blough for the Lions' No. 2 quarterback spot this preseason, and he will now likely look to land a practice-squad deal heading into the regular season.

Boyle completed five of 15 passes for 64 yards with one interception while rushing once for minus-1 yard during Sunday's 19-9 loss to Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle got the start but didn't do much of anything outside of putting together a scoring drive that ended in a field goal. Meanwhile, David Blough put forth a better performance for the second straight week and ended the game with a touchdown to Quintez Cephus. With head coach Dan Campbell wanting to keep just two quarterbacks on the active roster this season, it would be somewhat of a surprise if Boyle survives roster cuts this week.

The Lions announced Thursday that Boyle will be the starting quarterback for the team's preseason finale against the Steelers, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit coach Dan Campbell added Thursday that fellow backup David Blough will also see plenty of playing time against Pittsburgh. Campbell also maintained that the competition for the team's No. 2 quarterback job remains open heading into the Aug. 30 deadline for final cuts. Boyle had an up-and-down performance last time out this preseason against the Falcons (9-of-16 passing, 1:1 TD:INT), so Sunday's matchup will likely serve as his final opportunity to lock up a spot on the Lions' 53-man roster.

Boyle completed nine of 16 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown and one interception during Friday's preseason game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
With the Lions looking to keep only two quarterbacks on the active roster this year, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Boyle did not do himself many favors in this one. Not only was he generally outplayed by David Blough, but Boyle threw a bad interception early in the third quarter after airmailing an open receiver downfield in the second. However, Blough's game-losing mental error in the fourth quarter -- in which he fumbled the snap when Detroit could have run out the clock -- may have evened the score. Expect both signal callers to again see considerable snaps when the Lions take on the Colts in the second preseason game Aug. 20.

The Lions re-signed Boyle to a one-year, $2 million contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyle's contract includes $1.75 million in guaranteed money, with another $500,000 in incentives. The 27-year-old signal-caller started three games for the Lions last season, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns in each contest and only exceeding 200 passing yards once. However, Detroit appears satisfied enough with Boyle's ability to helm the offense under emergency circumstances, and he's now positioned to reprise a familiar role as the No. 2 option behind Jared Goff unless further options are added to the quarterback room.
