Johnson caught both his targets for 10 yards in Saturday's 34-25 preseason win over the Bills.
EDGE Analysis
Both of Johnson's receptions came on the Giants' opening drive with Russell Wilson under center, and the duo connected a third time, only for the play to be wiped out by a penalty. The second-year tight end missed time as a rookie with a foot injury, but over his final five games in 2024 he posted an intriguing 18-216-1 line on 27 targets. Johnson has been healthy in camp and has some breakout potential given his size and athleticism, as well as the glimpses of chemistry he showed Saturday with Wilson.

Johnson said he wants to play in all 17 of the Giants' regular-season games during the upcoming season, Bobby Kownack of NFL.com reports. "I've been taking my recovery and my health, what I'm putting in my body and everything, more serious than I ever have. I think that's the biggest goal for me is prioritizing my health and wellness and making sure that I'm available and consistent throughout 17 games," the tight end stated.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson missed New York's final five contests last year due to a foot injury, but he is back to full health and has participated in the team's OTAs this offseason. Though he got off to somewhat of a rocky start as a rookie, Johnson had been coming on strong prior to getting hurt, averaging 3.6 catches for 43.2 yards over his final five contests. He'll look to build upon that production as the Giants' top tight end in 2025, and there is potential for more opportunities now that Johnson is working with a revamped QB room that features Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and promising rookie Jaxson Dart.

Johnson (foot) is working with the Giant's first-team offense and new quarterback Russell Wilson at OTAs on Wednesday, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
EDGE Analysis
New York officially kicked off OTAs on Tuesday, but reporters were not allowed in attendance until Wednesday's session, in which Paul Schwartz of the New York Post spotted the second-year tight end taking part in drills without any apparent issues. A 2024 fourth-round pick, Johnson quickly emerged as the Giants' top tight end in his rookie campaign following the offseason retirement of Darren Waller. He logged 29 catches for 331 yards and one score (43 targets) across 12 regular-season appearances before a Lisfranc injury forced him to undergo surgery and spend the final five games on IR. Now healthy, Johnson will work with new quarterbacks Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart to attempt to solidify himself as a reliable receiving option behind top wideout Malik Nabers (toe).

Johnson, who was placed on injured reserve Monday due to a season-ending foot injury, has undergone surgery, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson's injury was in the Lisfranc joint and brought an early end to his five-catch, 54-yard performance in a loss to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and his season. After Darren Waller retired over the summer, the rookie fourth-round selection took over as the Giants' No. 1 tight end and finished his season with 29 catches on 43 targets for 331 yards and a touchdown.

The Giants placed Johnson (foot) on injured reserve Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson won't be eligible to return until the Week 18 regular-season finale, so it's fair to assume his rookie season is likely over after coach Brian Daboll hinted that was the case following the team's Thanksgiving Day loss to the Cowboys. In Johnson's absence, New York will roll with Daniel Bellinger, blocker Chris Manhertz and waiver-wire pickup Greg Dulcich at tight end.

Johnson may miss the rest of the season after injuring his foot during Thursday's loss at Dallas, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Brian Daboll informed reporters Friday morning, after Johnson took 89 percent of snaps and caught each of his five targets for a career-high 54 yards during a 27-20 loss to Dallas on Thursday. It was his fifth straight game with at least four targets, three catches and 35 receiving yards, making the rookie fourth-round pick one of the few positives for the New York offense recently. The Giants will be left with Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz and recent addition Greg Dulcich as their tight ends if/when Johnson's rookie season is confirmed to be ending early.

Johnson reeled in all five of his targets for 54 yards during Thursday's 27-20 loss in Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
For a third consecutive week of game prep, Johnson endured practice limitations due to a back injury, but he continues to suit up and handle a consistent role in the Giants' passing game, despite different signal-callers directing the offense. Drew Lock got the call in place of Tommy DeVito (forearm) this week, and while the former didn't look his way until the 4:23 mark of the third quarter, Johnson finished second on the team in catches and receiving yards (both behind rookie Malik Nabers) and third in targets (behind Nabers and Darius Slayton). Johnson's next opportunity to produce is Sunday, Dec. 8 versus the Saints, but who will be under center remains to be seen.

Johnson (back) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants listed Johnson as a limited participant on practice reports issued Monday through Wednesday, but the team saw enough from the rookie tight end to give him the green light to play Thanksgiving Day. Johnson has seen his involvement in the passing attack gradually pick up as the campaign has unfolded, and he comes into Thursday's contest having accrued a 13-162-1 receiving line on 22 targets over his last four games.

Johnson (back) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Johnson having been estimated as a limited participant on both of the Giants' first two Week 13 injury reports, he'll have one more chance to potentially upgrade to full activity before Thursday's game against the Cowboys. The rookie tight end has taken on a greater role in the New York passing attack in recent weeks, drawing exactly six targets in each of the Giants' last three games.

Johnson (back) was estimated as a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson has been battling the back issue for a couple weeks, but he's continued to play through it. He's coming off of a 3-39-0 line on six targets against Tampa Bay this past Sunday. Johnson and the Giants have a Thanksgiving Day date with the Cowboys on Thursday.
