Giants DB Terrell Thomas (torn ACL) will begin running next week. "Everything has been progressing smoothly as I begin to add more weight and lunges to my routine," Thomas said via his personal blog. Thomas had his ACL in his right knee surgically-repaired for the third time in his career in mid-September. If he returns to the Giants in 2013, GM Jerry Reese suggests Thomas could move to safety to take some pressure off his knees.

Giants GM Jerry Reese suggested that CB Terrell Thomas will be considered at safety if he's able to return from his third ACL surgery. "We will definitely reach out to him and see where he is, and see if he is going to be able to try to make another comeback," Reese said. "You might have to move him to a different position like safety instead of playing corner. Because a couple ACLs playing corner is tough to do."

Giants CB Terrell Thomas reportedly underwent surgery this week to repair his right ACL for the third time. After missing all of last season with a torn ACL, Thomas aggravated the injury early in training camp. He had originally opted for rehab, but the knee wasn't responding. The Giants subsequently placed Thomas on injured reserve. After a recent scope, it was discovered that his ACL was indeed partially torn, necessitating reconstructive surgery once again. Thomas won't be receiving his $6 million option bonus next offseason.

Giants placed CB Terrell Thomas (knee) and DT Shaun Rogers (leg) on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Thomas thought he could come back quickly with rehab after aggravating his surgically repaired knee early in camp, but the Giants were more pessimistic. Prince Amukamara is expected to start at right cornerback when he returns from his ankle sprain. Rogers impressed earlier in the month before coming down with a blot clot in his leg.

Giants RCB Terrell Thomas (knee) hopes to be cleared to resume running later this week. Thomas is hoping to be ready for next Wednesday's opener, but coach Tom Coughlin has said it's not a realistic goal. Thomas is tentatively expected to return some time in October. "I feel great," Thomas said. "I feel like I'm improving, my leg feels great, but I think they're going to be cautious and slow me down as much as possible and give it a couple of more weeks. But you never know."

Giants RCB Terrell Thomas (knee) is still aiming for a Week 1 return. "I am getting back to my old self (and) my goal is to still play in the season's opener," Thomas wrote on his website. "I have been working my butt off every day. ... All the signs are showing of my return coming back with a strong and healthy knee are all positive." A Week 1 return would be optimal for the Giants after Prince Amukamara suffered a high-ankle sprain in Friday's game, but Thomas has yet to even resume practicing. Team sources tell the New York Daily News he's unlikely to play before October.

Giants RCB Terrell Thomas (knee) "feels great," but remains without a return date. "The (doctor) told me that if it feels good at three weeks I'm going to wait another week," Thomas said. "That's just the game plan right now, to give it as much time as possible to let it heal. I'm not going to lose any strength. It's just getting back in shape, running, and getting comfortable out there." Thomas is at high risk of a setback, but it's encouraging he's gone over two weeks without one. He won't be ready for Week 1, but his 2012 arrow is pointing up.

Giants RCB Terrell Thomas is characterizing his latest ACL injury as a "minor scare," and anticipates missing no more than eight weeks. Thomas' undefined timeline for recovery is 3-8 weeks. Doctors believe he "stretched" and "aggravated" the right ACL, which was surgically reconstructed last year. While the Giants and Thomas are optimistic he will play this season, he will have to avoid setbacks during the recovery period in order to do so. Prince Amukamara is likely to open the season as a starter.

Giants RCB Terrell Thomas (knee) has been officially diagnosed with a "stretched" and "aggravated" ACL, and could be sidelined as little as 3-5 weeks. That's provided he avoids setbacks, which will be far from a guarantee considering his injury history and the obvious instability of his right knee. Regardless, coach Tom Coughlin admitted the prognosis was a "best-case scenario." Thomas almost certainly won't be ready for Week 1, but it isn't a candidate for the reserve/PUP list since he didn't begin camp on the active/PUP.
