The Panthers have waived Poole, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports. With a banged-up backfield at the moment, Poole's release would seem to foreshadow the Panthers making another move in order to bolster the team's depth at running back.

The Panthers promoted Poole to their active roster Saturday. The Panthers top four running backs are all banged up, so Poole was added to the roster to provide some depth at the position. DeAngelo Williams (thigh) is on track to start Sunday, and it appears Poole will be the Panthers' third running back behind Williams and Darrin Reaves.

Poole, who was recently signed to the Panthers' practice squad, has a chance of being active for this Sunday's game, the Charlotte Observer reports. Poole could be promoted to the Panthers' active roster amid the team's stable of ball-carriers being depleted at the moment. To that point, all three of Jonathan Stewart (knee), Mike Tolbert (leg), and Fozzy Whittaker (quadriceps) are nursing injuries, so Poole may be needed to backup starter DeAngelo Williams Sunday versus the Ravens.

Panthers signed RB Tauren Poole, DT Casey Walker, WR Brenton Bersin, WR James Shaw, LB Ben Jacobs, S Robert Lester, and DE Craig Roh to their practice squad. There are no overly notable names in this group. Poole failed to beat out rookie draft pick Kenjon Barner for a roster spot in training camp.
