Dolphins declared RB Steve Slaton, OLB Ikaika Alama-Francis, OT Will Barker, G/C Ryan Cook, DL Ryan Baker, OG Ray Feinga, and TE Will Yeatman inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Slaton hasn't been active since Daniel Thomas returned from his second hamstring injury. Baker and Feinga were recently signed to offset Igor Olshansky and Shayne Graham on the 53-man roster. Cook is used primarily as a ''swingman'' on the Dolphins offensive line and will be replaced by John Jerry.

Dolphins declared Steve Slaton inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins. Slaton served as the Dolphins' goal-line back in Week 8, but has been inactive since Daniel Thomas (hamstring) got healthy. The rest of the inactives on a pretty healthy Miami team: TE Will Yeatman, T Will Barker, G John Jerry, DE Phillip Merling, LB Ikaika Alama-Francis and CB Nolan Carroll.

Steve Slaton rushed five times for seven yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Giants. Only in Miami would Slaton serve as the clear-cut goal-line back ahead of Lex Hilliard (one carry, four yards). He got three chances from the 1-yard line, stuffing one of them in. But with Daniel Thomas (hamstring) likely back soon, Slaton's mind-boggling usage as a power back should be short-lived. Leave him on waivers.

Steve Slaton has reportedly "picked up the system well" since signing with the Dolphins on Wednesday. With Daniel Thomas out with a hamstring injury, Slaton is expected to be active against the Chargers on Sunday. He'll only be worth a look in fantasy leagues if Thomas' absence turns into a protracted one, and only then in deeper PPR leagues. Like new teammate Reggie Bush, Slaton is not an effective between-the-tackles runner.

Dolphins claimed RB Steve Slaton off waivers from the Texans. It's a bit of a curious move because the Fins have a similar player in Reggie Bush, but was probably just made as Reggie insurance. Slaton, 25, can also return kicks. Averaging just 3.24 yards per carry on 170 attempts since his flash-in-the-pan rookie season, however, Slaton adds nothing as an inside ball carrier. He's essentially Bush's direct backup. Lex Hilliard holds the same role behind Daniel Thomas. Don't expect Slaton to accrue fantasy value this season barring injuries to all three of the above.

Beat writer Kent Somers does not expect the Cardinals to sign free agent Steve Slaton. Somers was just giving his response to a Twitter question here, not reporting. The Cards do have a third-down back ready to go now in LaRod Stephens-Howling, but we still think they should kick the tires on Slaton. Alfonso Smith and Chester Taylor are not reasonable backups to the oft-injured Beanie Wells.

Texans waive RB Steve Slaton. The poster boy for valuing stats over talent in Dynasty leagues, Slaton was always best suited for a passing-down role. His neck surgery, an inability to hang on to the ball, and the acquisition of more talented backs also played a role in his banishment. The Houston Chronicle's Lance Zierlein noted that Slaton lacked confidence in himself of late "as it pertains to cutbacks" in the Texans offense. The Cardinals, with Alfonso Smith and Chester Taylor backing up Beanie Wells, may be interested.

Steve Slaton rushed just two times for 12 yards and caught one pass for six yards in Sunday's blowout of the Colts. Slaton's first carry didn't come until after Derrick Ward left with an ankle injury. Even then, he took a major backseat to Ben Tate and barely played even though the Texans were up 34-0 for most of the second half. The Texans have no faith in Slaton.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Steve Slaton is "ready to be successful again" in the NFL. Despite rumors that Slaton would either be cut or traded this offseason, the former 1000-yard rusher has his career back on the right path. If Arian Foster (hamstring) sits Sunday, Slaton would be in line for some third-down work.

Steve Slaton was not amongst the Texans cuts on Saturday. This, despite the fact that a hamstring injury prevented Slaton from carrying the ball during the preseason. The Texans decision to keep Slaton is probably due more to the fact that he's too good to waive than concern about Arian Foster's own hamstring injury. He's still a candidate to be traded.
