Richardson is active Sunday against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson was suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and he figures to get plenty of snaps Sunday, particularly if rookie Leonard Williams is limited by his ankle issue.

Richardson returned to practice Monday after serving his four-game suspension, the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson was suspended for the first quarter of this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and although he still has an unresolved legal case stemming from the offseason, Monday marked the defensive tackle's return to practice. Coming off 66 tackles and eight sacks last season, Richardson is expected to play Sunday against the Redskins and figures to make the Jets' defense even more disruptive moving forward.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles said he expects to have Richardson (suspension) back for Week 6 against the Redskins, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson is serving a four-game suspension to start the season, and his team has a Week 5 bye. Although the Jets remain hopeful, there's still some chance the NFL will add more time to the suspension. Jets head coach Todd Bowles suggested that Richardson may play limit snaps upon first returning.

Richardson has an October 5 pre-trial date in his court case for drag-racing, the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson's hearing will come the day after he finishes serving his four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The NFL will likely rule on whether he'll receive a separate suspension under the league's personal conduct policy after this legal matter has been completed.

Richardson recorded one tackle and one assist Saturday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson (suspension) will miss at least four games to open the season, but will be one of the best defensive linemen in the league when he returns.

Richardson is awaiting word from the NFL on whether his four-game suspension will be increased, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Richardson will miss the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, but the league's also looking into whether he violated the personal conduct policy. He was charged with resisting arrest after a July 14 incident, and his arraignment is scheduled for August 31. Obviously, any added time to his suspension would make him little more than a lottery ticket IDP pick.

New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson was charged with numerous offenses Thursday stemming from a high-speed road race that took place on July 14, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Richardson was charged with resisting arrest in addition to other traffic violations and has a mandatory court date set for Oct. 27 in St. Charles County, Missouri. The 25-year-old was reportedly fleeing police at 143 miles per hour and was uncooperative once he was apprehended. He is currently set to serve a four-game suspension at the start of the upcoming season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy and will likely face further punishment for the latest incident. Richardson took a step forward in 2014 when he recorded 66 tackles and eight sacks en route to his first Pro Bowl selection, but his third season in the league will not begin until Week 5 at the earliest.

Richardson has been suspended for the first four games of the coming season for violating the league's policy and program for substances of abuse, NFL.com reports. As a result, Richardson, who is coming off a season in which he recorded 67 tackles and eight sacks, will see a reduction in his IDP value in re-draft formats, but he'll be worthy of an in-season pickup once his suspension is complete.

Associated Press named Jets DE Sheldon Richardson its 2013 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Fellow John Idzik premium picks Geno Smith and Dee Milliner disappointed as rookies, but Richardson was an unblockable animal for the Jets' oft-dominant 2013 run defense. He lived in opposing backfields. Whereas Eddie Lacy won OROY in a landslide, Richardson narrowly eked out 23 votes to finish four ahead of Buffalo ILB Kiko Alonso. Saints S Kenny Vaccaro (4), Cardinals CB/FS Tyrann Mathieu (2), and Panthers DT Star Lotulelei (2) also received DROY votes.

First-round DL Sheldon Richardson is fourth on the Jets in tackles (60) and is third in sacks (3.5). Among the leaders in the Defensive Rookie of the Year race, Richardson has been everything the Jets have asked for and more. He's PFF's No. 5 3-4 defensive end and has been a huge reason the Jets have the league's No. 2 run defense. "He's got that relentless motor," coach Rex Ryan said. "For a defensive tackle and being as productive as he is ... the tape doesn't lie."
