Jets waived/non-football illness TE Shawn Nelson. A source tells Newsday's Rod Boone that Nelson's migraine problems have resurfaced of late. The same problem ended Nelson's season prematurely last year.

Jets signed TE Shawn Nelson. Nelson brings some pass-catching ability to the table, but won't see the field much barring a Dustin Keller injury. His main role this week will be to get the Jets up to speed on their Week 9 opponent, the Bills. Nelson spent the first two seasons of his career in Buffalo.

The Jets are expected to sign TE Shawn Nelson Monday. The Jets worked out Nelson on Tuesday and are in the market for a "move" tight end with Jeff Cumberland (Achilles) on injured reserve. A fourth-round pick in 2009, Nelson managed 20 receptions for 181 yards and one touchdown in 17 career games with the Bills before being waived this preseason.

The Jets are reportedly working out free agent TE Shawn Nelson on Tuesday. The 2009 fourth-rounder recorded 20 receptions for 181 yards and a touchdown in 17 career games with the Bills over two seasons. It's worth noting the Jets square off against Nelson's former team after the Week 8 bye.

The Patriots recently worked out free agent TE Shawn Nelson. New England also tried out free agent DBs Prince Miller, Mana Silva and Josh Victorian. Nelson is not a blocker, and the Pats already have two elite pass catchers at tight end in Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. Nelson may have been brought in simply to provide information of his former team Buffalo, whom New England is hosting in Week 3.

Bills waived TE Shawn Nelson. Nelson was billed as an early-round receiving talent coming out of Southern Miss, but he never showed the desire to improve. Injuries and suspensions have limited the 2009 fourth-rounder to just 17 of 32 games the past two years. The Bills may have the worst collection of receiving tight ends in the league, so this move doesn't bode well for Nelson's future.

Shawn Nelson (undisclosed) finally returned to practice this week. Nelson missed virtually the entire training camp, making him an extreme longshot to survive the final cut. The Bills' tight ends will be Scott Chandler, David Martin and Mike Caussin.

WGR 550 Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia believes Bills TE Shawn Nelson is "as good as gone" in Buffalo. Buscaglia reports Nelson has looked "way heavier" than when he was taken as a fourth-round pick in 2009, and "not in a good way." He has yet to practice this summer as he deals with an undisclosed injury. Limited to only five games last season by injury and suspension, Nelson hauled in just three catches after notching 18 in 13 games as a rookie in 2009.
