Mannion agreed to terms Wednesday with the Vikings on a one-year contract, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion is in line to return for another year as Kirk Cousins' backup, despite having underwhelmed in his lone extended action in Week 17 of last season. Of course, it's worth noting that his unimpressive showing came without the presence of Minnesota's top running backs (Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison) and top offensive tackles (Riley Reiff and Brian O'Neill). The Vikings could still bring in other competition for the backup job this summer.

Mannion completed 12 of 21 pass attempts for 126 yards and two interceptions during Sunday's 21-19 loss to the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion started for Kirk Cousins, as he and many other regular starters watched from the sideline. Mannion completed just 57 percent of his passes, averaged 6.0 yards per attempt and turned the ball over twice, reminding everyone why he's never gotten an extended run as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Mannion will return to the bench for the postseason and could have the team considering its options behind Cousins.

Mannion will serve as the Vikings' primary quarterback in Sunday's game against the Bears, even if he doesn't start, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Mike Zimmer hasn't confirmed how he plans to proceed with resting his players in Week 17, but all reports thus far have suggested that several key regulars -- including Kirk Cousins -- won't play much, if at all. Cousins is active against Chicago, but Cronin suggests that even if the veteran signal-caller gets the first snap, he'll merely just be preserving his consecutive start streak before exiting the contest soon thereafter. Mannion, who has appeared in only two games and has played five snaps in total, will thus be in store for his most extended action of the campaign. The setup isn't favorable, however, as the Vikings' top two running backs (Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison) are out with injuries, while starting offensive tackles Riley Reiff and Brian O'Neill are healthy inactives. Additionally, star wideouts Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are among the several Vikings who will likely have limited roles in Week 17.

Mannion could get his second career start this week against Chicago if starter Kirk Cousins is rested ahead of the playoffs, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "Sean's a smart guy,'' head coach Mike Zimmer said. "He's done a really good job on the (scout team). When he gets his opportunities with the other guys, he's done a good job."
EDGE Analysis
With the Vikings locked into the No. 6 playoff seed, there's nothing to play for this week against Chicago. However, the Vikings may be motivated to play their starters for a quarter or two after a poor offensive performance in last week's loss to Green Bay. Head coach Mike Zimmer hasn't said whether he'll rest his starters and may not announce a decision until kickoff. Either way, it seems likely that Mannion will see significant action Sunday as it's unlikely Cousins will play more than a quarter or two.

Mannion was 6-of-9 for 57 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in Saturday's preseason win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Despite a ho-hum preseason, Mannion still appears set to begin the season as the No. 2 quarterback. Kyle Sloter has played well in the preseason, so it's possible the two could be jockeying for position on the depth chart during the regular season.

Mannion was 7-of-13 for 102 yards passing with a touchdown and no interceptions in Friday's preseason win over New Orleans.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion had a solid performance, and he's expected to win the backup job behind Kirk Cousins. So far in camp there hasn't been much talk that his spot as the No. 2 QB is at risk.

Mannion signed a contract with the Vikings on Sunday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion was picked in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, but he spent the last four years in a backup role. The Vikings still have Kyle Sloter on the roster, but Mannion figures to jump him and become Kirk Cousins' backup in 2019.

Mannion is visiting the Vikings on Monday after being in talks with the team on a contract the last couple weeks, Chris Tomasson of The Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion served as Jared Goff's backup in 2018 and has been with the Rams all four years of his career. He's been a career backup to date and appears set to serve as a backup again in 2019. The Vikings only have Kyle Sloter under contract behind starter Kirk Cousins and could bring Mannion in to compete for the No. 2 quarterback role.

Mannion is having conversations to potentially sign with the Vikings, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mannion appeared in three games with the Rams last season as Jared Goff's backup and attempted only three passes. The 26-year-old won't return to his old job in Los Angeles after the team signed Blake Bortles on Monday. The Vikings have Kirk Cousins and Kyle Sloter under contract for 2019, but appear to be looking for a more veteran backup option than Sloter.

Mannion made three regular-season appearances and completed just two of three passes for 23 yards. He only saw the field for 36 offensive snaps.
EDGE Analysis
The backup will become a free agent this spring after spending the past four years with the Rams. Mannion was a third-round selection in 2015, but then Los Angeles took Jared Goff with the first overall pick the following year, and Mannion made his only career start in a meaningless Week 17 game last season. With Goff proving to be a franchise cornerstone, any chance of Mannion becoming a fantasy-relevant quarterback probably won't come with the Rams.
