The Giants aren't expected to trade Barkley, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
EDGE Analysis
GM Joe Schoen noted earlier this week that he's at least willing to entertain calls from other teams regarding any player on the team's roster, fueling speculation that Barkley could potentially be dealt. At this stage, it doesn't look like such a move is in the works, with Rapoport reporting Friday that it "doesn't seem like teams have called, doesn't seem like [Schoen] has listened if they have. I don't believe Saquon's going anywhere." Barkley -- the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft -- is in line to earn $7.2 million in 2022 after the Giants exercised the fifth-year option of his rookie contract last April.

Based on GM Joe Schoen's comments Tuesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN suggests that the Giants could consider moving Barkley this offseason.
EDGE Analysis
Though the team parted ways with TE Kyle Rudolph and RB Devontae Booker on Wednesday, the Giants still have to continue to navigate through some salary cap issues in advance of the 2022 season. With that in mind, Schoen indicated that he's "open to everything" in terms of roster management. "We're open for business on the entire roster," Schoen noted, while adding "if anyone is going to call and they're interested in any of our players. I'm certainly going to listen." Though any potential transaction involving Barkley is purely speculative at this stage, Raanan believes that the Giants will at least be willing to field calls from other teams inquiring about the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, who is guaranteed $7.2 million in 2022 on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.

Barkley rushed 11 times for 30 yards and brought in three of four targets for 19 yards in the Giants' 22-7 loss to Washington on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
In a thoroughly forgettable 4-13 season for the Giants, Barkley had a similarly underwhelming campaign on an individual level and closed it out with one more pedestrian performance. While New York's mediocre run-blocking offensive line, the team's shaky quarterback situation, and -- especially early in the season -- Barkley's still-recovering knee likely bear the brunt of the blame for the talented back's lack of production, it's arguably fair to wonder whether the fourth-year pro also lacked explosiveness and vision at times, thereby leaving some yards on the field. At least partly supporting this notion is the fact that veteran backup Devontae Booker was actually appreciably more efficient than Barkley when filling in, although there won't be any question about the latter going into training camp as the clear No. 1 back again this coming summer for what will be a contract year, barring an offseason extension.

Barkley (ankle) has been cleared to play Sunday against Washington, with no designation on the final injury report.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley had his first 100-yard rushing game of the season last week, albeit in a 29-3 loss where the Giants attempted only 11 passes. Similar volume is far from guaranteed as Barkley closes out the year sharing work with Devontae Booker, but it is a safe bet the Giants try to get him the ball with Jake Fromm unlikely to be any better than Mike Glennon at quarterback.

Barkley (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Giants unable to get anything going in the passing game with Mike Glennon (wrist) under center this past Sunday at Chicago, they leaned heavily on their backfield, resulting in a season-high 21 carries for Barkley. Barkley thus has reached double-digit rushes in six consecutive games, averaging 18.2 touches for 71 yards from scrimmage while scoring one TD during that span. Assuming he's out there Sunday against Washington, Barkley can expect another hefty workload with second-year QB Jake Fromm directing the offense.

Barkley (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's injury report, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Once again, the Giants are capping Barkley's practice reps due to the ankle issue that has plagued him for much of the season. He's coming off his first 100-yard rushing performance of the campaign from this past Sunday's loss to Chicago, pushing him to averages of 17.3 touches for 68.9 yards from scrimmage per game across seven contests since he returned Week 11 from a stint on injured reserve. There's been no indication that the team intends to shut down Barkley in Week 18 against Washington, but his status nonetheless should be monitored to ensure he's out there Sunday.

Barkley rushed 21 times for 102 yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 29-3 loss to Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Barkley's performance was a silver lining for the Giants in what was otherwise a disastrous performance on offense, as Mike Glennon had as many turnovers as completions (four). Having just notched his first 100-yard rushing performance since Week 16 of the 2019 season, Barkley will look to finish strong in Week 18 against Washington.

Barkley (ankle) has no injury designation for Sunday's game in Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, with Barkley (and the Giants) suggesting this week that he won't be shut down if he's healthy enough to play. There's little question the team will try to get the ball to its running backs while working with backup QBs and an injury-ravaged wideout group, but that's basically been the plan for weeks now and it hasn't led to much production for either Barkley or Devontae Booker, with both seeing double-digit touches in four straight games. During that stretch, Barkley has averaged 14.3 carries and 5.3 targets per game, but with a yield of only 67.8 total yards and 0.25 TDs.

Barkley (ankle) practiced on a limited basis, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
After opening Week 17 prep with no practice reps Wednesday, Barkley mixed into some drills Thursday, which may be setting him up to continue playing through an ankle injury. Since returning from injured reserve Week 11, he's racked up 100 touches for 380 yards from scrimmage and one TD over the last six contests. Meanwhile, backup Devontae Booker has 50 touches for 313 total yards during that same span.

Barkley (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
There have been media whispers about shutting Barkley down, but both team and player have suggested that's not the plan. He's simply managing his ankle injury, and while Devontae Booker may continue to steal a large chunk of the backfield snaps/touches in an incompetent offense, Barkley also figures to stay involved, barring any setbacks. Week 17 brings a trip to Chicago, where Barkley suffered his ACL tear last September.
