Hubbard (knee) announced Wednesday via social media that he has retired from the NFL.
EDGE Analysis
In a surprising move, Hubbard will bring an end to his career after spending all seven of his professional seasons in Cincinnati. The 29-year-old defensive end sustained a PCL injury and missed Cincinnati's final three games of the 2024 season, but he was relatively unproductive while on the field. In 14 games, Hubbard posted 41 total tackles, the lowest mark since his rookie year in 2018. The Ohio State product ends his career having accumulated 38.5 sacks and 398 total tackles over 104 games during the regular season.

Hubbard (knee) finished the 2024 season with 41 tackles (25 solo), including 2.0 sacks, two pass breakups, including one interception, one forced fumble and one safety across 14 games with Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard's 2.0 sacks, three tackles for loss and nine QB hits were all career lows for the 29-year-old. He missed the final three games of the season with a PCL injury in his knee. Hubbard is signed through 2025 but is slated for a raise to $9 million next season, a number that may prove to be too high considering the Bengals will be looking to pay Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and possibly Trey Hendrickson. That coupled with Hubbard's dip in production could make him a candidate for release.

Hubbard (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard will miss a third straight game due to a PCL injury that he suffered in Week 15 against the Titans. He wasn't placed on injured reserve, so if the Bengals manage to make it into the postseason as the AFC's No. 7 seed, it's possible that he could make his return for the wild-card round. Joseph Ossai will continue to start at defensive end alongside Trey Hendrickson due to Hubbard's injury.

Head coach Zac Taylor stated Monday that Hubbard (knee) will definitely be out against the Browns on Sunday, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard is considered likely to miss the rest of the season, so this news isn't exactly surprising. However, it does confirm the seriousness of the injury to rule him out this early. It also lends more credence to the report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.

The knee injury Hubbard suffered in Sunday's game against the Titans will likely end his season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard's campaign will end with 41 combined tackles, including 2.0 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception in 14 games. He also caught a two-yard touchdown pass before exiting against Tennessee. The Bengals will look to Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai to pick up extra work on the defensive line beginning in Week 16 against the Browns.

EDGE Analysis
The defensive lineman made one solo tackle before exiting, and he also caught his only target for two yards and a touchdown. Hubbard has 41 tackles (25 solo), including 2.0 sacks, two pass breakups, including an interception, and a forced fumble on the year. Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai are Cincinnati's next available defensive ends.

Hubbard recorded nine total tackles (seven solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional tackle for loss, in Sunday's 41-38 loss to the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
The Ohio State product tied both Germaine Pratt and Logan Wilson for the most tackles on the Bengals' defense in Sunday's loss. Hubbard also made a big play while the Ravens were backed up in their own territory, taking down Derrick Henry for a two-yard loss and a safety that brought the Bengals to within five points in the second quarter. Expect Hubbard to continue being a bright spot on a struggling Bengals defense as the team travels to take on the Giants in Week 6.

Hubbard (knee) was not listed on the Bengals' injury report Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard sustained a knee injury in late July, which kept him out of practice for most of training camp. He went through individual work in late August, and he now appears healthy enough to return to team drills ahead of the Bengals' regular-season opener against the Patriots on Sunday. Across 15 regular-season games in 2023, Hubbard registered 58 tackles (38 solo), including 6.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Monday that Hubbard (knee) will go through individual work this week, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard has missed the last three weeks with a knee issue, but it appears that he's nearly past the injury, as he returns to individual drills this week. The 29-year-old defensive end has recorded 6.0 sacks in each of the last three seasons, and he could very well be on the field for the Bengals' regular-season opener Sept. 8 if his recovery continues going well.

Hubbard, who injured his knee during practice Sunday, is considered week-to-week according to head coach Zac Taylor, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hubbard was carted off the field when the injury occurred, but it appears the situation is less dire than it originally seemed. The Bengals will likely be cautious with the 29-year-old, who's played a prominent role in their defense by recording at least 6.0 sacks in each of the last three seasons.
