Turbin had one carry for four yards and two receptions for 15 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin and Josh Ferguson each had 12 snaps on offense behind starter Frank Gore. While neither backup did much (Ferguson had 24 total yards), it's not a good sign that Ferguson got as much playing time and was used in clear passing situations. Turbin may not be the clear backup to Gore if Week 1 is any indication.

Turbin is listed as the top backup to Frank Gore on the Colts' initial regular-season depth chart.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin may have beaten out Josh Ferguson and Jordan Todman, but this still figures to be a fluid situation throughout the season, as none of the three really stood out during training camp and the preseason. In the event Frank Gore were to suffer an injury, the Colts would likely opt for a committee approach at running back. It's also possible the team would look into external options.

Turbin had three carries for 16 yards and two receptions for 19 yards but lost a fumble in Thursday's preseason win over the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin will likely enter the season as Frank Gore's backup, but none of the running backs vying for the role were overly impressive. Recently signed Steven Ridley could challenge for the backup role when he gets more familiar with the offense, but the depth chart behind Gore remains fluid.

Turbin recorded a team-high 24 rushing yards on just four carries and caught his only target for a six-yard gain in Saturday's preseason game versus the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
The Colts' ground game generated next to nothing Saturday, but it was Turbin who came through with 62 percent of the team's rushing yards on an impressive six yards per carry. Turbin is currently considered the leading candidate to win the backup job behind Frank Gore, and his chief competitors, Josh Ferguson and Jordan Todman, combined for just six yards on eight carries. Saturday's developments can only help Turbin's case, and he will have one final chance to cement his spot on the depth chart Thursday versus the Bengals.

Turbin enters Saturday's preseason game as the leading candidate to be the backup to Frank Gore, the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's still a very open competition between Turbin, Jordan Todman and Robert Ferguson. None of the three backs has stood out in the preseason and it's not an encouraging sign that the Colts worked out Stevan Ridley to potentially sign him as a backup. Still, Turbin looks to be the backup to own at this point, though Ferguson may have the most upside due to his pass catching skills.

Turbin gained 18 yards on seven carries and seven yards on one reception in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
With 33-year-old Frank Gore only making a very brief appearance, Turbin handled most of the snaps while Andrew Luck and the rest of the first-team offense were still in the game. Undrafted rookie Josh Ferguson then took over with the second unit, playing into the third quarter and finishing with five carries for six yards and two catches for 13 yards. While only listed fourth on the team's initial depth chart, Ferguson started over Turbin and Jordan Todman in the first preseason game, which suggests the rookie has a real shot to win the top backup job. This will be the key battle to watch in Indy's third preseason game.

Turbin managed just two yards on four carries, but did add a 15-yard reception in Saturday's preseason debut at Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin was listed second on Indianapolis' initial depth chart, but he did little to cement his status as Frank Gore's top backup. The whole Colts running game was disastrous in this one though, as no running back managed more than five rushing yards.

Turbin was listed as No. 2 at running back on the Colts' initial depth chart behind starter Frank Gore, the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin will battle Jordan Todman and rookie Josh Ferguson for the backup job. Ferguson may have the most upside as a pass catcher in an offense that will throw the ball a lot, but at this point Turbin would get the first shot if Gore were to get hurt.

The Colts and Turbin agreed to a contract Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
In his first three seasons with the Seahawks, Turbin established himself a decent handcuff for Marshawn Lynch, accumulating at least 250 yards rushing on each occasion. Turbin was also adept as a pass-catcher with 43 receptions (on 55 targets) for 427 yards and two touchdowns during that span. However, he suffered a high-ankle sprain at the end of the preseason and was promptly waived a few days later before he was plucked by the Browns. Making 10 appearances with Cleveland and Dallas thereafter, he managed nearly 4.0 yards per carry and 2.3 yards per target on 5.7 touches per game, meaning the best-case scenario in Indianapolis is likely a change-of-pace role behind Frank Gore.

Turbin carried the ball five times for 23 yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's loss to the Bills.
EDGE Analysis
Darren McFadden has been producing as the starting RB for the Cowboys over the last few weeks, leaving few touches available for Turbin. A free agent in the offseason, the former Seahawk may not have done enough to warrant a return to Dallas in 2016.
