The Union-Tribune considers Robert Meachem a "practical lock" to make the Chargers' final roster. Meachem will make the team because of his contract, not his play on the field. His $5 million base salary is fully guaranteed and cutting him would result in a $6.75 million cap hit. At training camp, Meachem was not part of a first-team receiving unit that included Danario Alexander, Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown and Eddie Royal. He's insurance along with third-round rookie Keenan Allen.

The Union-Tribune San Diego confirms that Robert Meachem "still seems buried on the depth chart." Meachem is getting more opportunities in practice under a new coaching staff, but he still can't leap Danario Alexander, Vincent Brown, or Malcom Floyd. Meachem's $5 million base salary is fully guaranteed, so he likely isn't going to get cut. The Chargers may look to showcase him for a possible trade in the preseason. For now, Meachem is well off the fantasy radar.

Robert Meachem played only two snaps in Sunday's loss. Meachem played 18 fewer snaps than Seyi Ajirotutu, and two fewer than rookie tight end Ladarius Green. Meachem simply hasn't progressed from his underachieving days in New Orleans, though his salary - he's due a guaranteed $5 million - ensures he'll be back in 2013. Meachem has two catches in four games since the Chargers' Week 7 bye.

Robert Meachem didn't register on the stat sheet in Week 12 against the Ravens and saw zero targets in the passing game. Meachem may not have even played a single snap on Sunday. Danario Alexander has fully overtaken his job, and Seyi Ajirotutu even saw a couple of targets in three-receiver sets over Meachem. Meachem shouldn't even be sniffing fantasy rosters at the moment.

Robert Meachem caught one ball for 10 yards in the Chargers' Week 11 loss to the Broncos. He was targeted twice, playing off the bench in a third-receiver role behind Danario Alexander and Malcom Floyd. Meachem isn't going anywhere because his 2012 and 2013 base salaries are guaranteed, but he's fallen out of favor in the offense and for good reason. He should be dropped in all re-draft leagues.

Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal are not on the Week 11 injury report. Both receivers had been dealing with hamstring issues lately. This is Royal's first time not on the injury report since Week 5, and Meachem was on it for the past two weeks. However, we don't expect either player to be relevant fantasy options for the remainder of the campaign. Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander should be owned in all formats.

According to The Sideline View's Adam Caplan, Robert Meachem's $5 million base salary in 2013 is fully guaranteed. In order to release Meachem -- who lost his starting job to street free agent Danario Alexander -- the Chargers would have to eat the $5 million in addition to absorbing that cap hit on top of signing bonus proration. Meachem signed a four-year, $25.9 million deal in March. He received $7.5 million to sign. The contract makes it likely Meachem will return to San Diego next season, but through nine games he's been a complete free-agent bust.

Robert Meachem caught his only target for a gain of eight yards in the Chargers' Week 10 loss to Tampa Bay. Meachem has lost his starting job to Danario Alexander and can be dropped in fantasy leagues. "Honestly, it didn't matter," Meachem said afterwards. "We were winning. We were moving the ball. Yeah, I would love to be out there. Yeah, I would love to play. But when things are going right, how can you pout?"
