The Falcons prefer to keep CB Robert McClain on the inside as their nickel corner. McClain, claimed off waivers from the Jaguars at the end of the 2011 season, blossomed into an outstanding slot corner for the Falcons last season. He appeared in 17 games, including the playoffs, and registered one interception and ten pass breakups, while grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 12 corner. Atlanta would prefer one of first-round CB Desmond Trufant or second-rounder Robert Alford to claim the starting job opposite Asante Samuel.

Jaguars waived CB Robert McClain. The move clears space for OT William Robinson, who was claimed off waivers from the Saints Thursday. McClain did not appear in a game for the Jaguars after being signed on December 12.
