Kelley (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
After failing to practice in any capacity this week, Kelley was listed as doubtful heading into Sunday, so his inactive status was fully expected. While Kelley's absence should open up a few extra touches for change-of-pace back Chris Thompson, it's rookie Samaje Perine who will benefit the most. Look for Perine to handle the bulk of the early-down work and lead the Redskins in carries Sunday.

Kelley (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that he didn't expect Kelley to play, as the second-year back was unable to rejoin practice as his team came out of a bye week. Samaje Perine will fill in as Washington's lead runner, with passing-down back Chris Thompson potentially also picking up a few extra snaps and touches. Kelley will turn his focus to a Week 7 matchup with the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Kelley (ankle) didn't dress for the Redskins' practice Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Jay Gruden labeled Kelley a "long shot" to play Sunday against the 49ers, so the running back's second straight absence from practice doesn't come as a surprise. Unless Kelley is able to rally and put in a practice Friday, he'll be on the inactive list in Week 6, paving the way for Samaje Perine to see an expanded role out of the Redskins' backfield.

Head coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that Kelley (ankle) is a "long shot" to suit up Sunday against the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was knocked out of the Redskins' last game in Week 4 due to a sprained ankle, and even after a bye week, he hasn't progressed beyond conditioning work. Gruden told John Keim of ESPN.com that Kelley must "make major strides" to make an appearance in Week 6. If Kelley is unable to attain such status, Samaje Perine will again lead the Redskins backfield Sunday, while Chris Thompson holds down his typical change-of-pace role.

Kelley (ankle) was limited to conditioning work on the side while his teammates practice Monday, Master Tesfatsion of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley missed Week 3 with a rib injury and was then knocked out with a sprained ankle Week 4. Coming out of a bye, he apparently is still bothered by one or both of those injuries, potentially setting up Samaje Perine for another shot at the lead role Sunday against the 49ers.

Head coach Jay Gruden said Tuesday that Kelley is day-to-day due to an ankle sprain.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was the only Redskins running back to receive a touch on their opening touchdown drive, while Chris Thompson mixed in on the team's second possession. However, Kelley didn't make an appearance beyond the first quarter due to an ankle injury and was eventually downgraded to doubtful to return, which is generally the death knell for any more snaps. By game's end, though, the Redskins hadn't focused on any one player to fuel the ground game. Kirk Cousins led the way with seven carries for 38 yards, followed by Samaje Perine (six for 27), Thompson (six for 23) and Kelley (seven for 23). Because Kelley handled seven reps in the first quarter alone, he can be considered Washington's lead back, when healthy, until further notice.

The Chiefs have downgraded Kelley (ankle) to doubtful to return for Monday's game against the Chiefs, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was originally labeled questionable to return after heading to the locker room in the first half. He subsequently ran sprints after returning to the sideline, but was apparently unable to convince the training staff he was capable of returning to the game. Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson figure to continue working in tandem out of the Redskins' backfield assuming Kelley remains sidelined.

Kelley (ankle) is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley went to the locker room but was seen returning to the sidelines where he performed sprints as if he were gearing to get back into the game. If the team doesn't clear him to return, then Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson would work in tandem to keep the Redskins' run game churning.

Kelley (ribs) is active for Monday's game at Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
For the second week in a row, Kelley's practice reps were capped, but he'll nonetheless return to the lineup after tending to a rib cartilage injury. Because head coach Jay Gruden has said Kelley will resume lead-back duties when healthy, he should push rookie Samaje Perine to the periphery of the Redskins offense. Consequently, Kelley should handle the bulk of the reps on first and second down Monday, with Chris Thompson serving his typical change-of-pace role.

The Redskins have officially listed Kelley (ribs) as questionable for Monday night's game against the Chiefs, John Keim of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly, who has been limited at practice since a suffering a rib cartilage injury Week 3 against the Rams, appears on track to be a true game-time decision Monday night. Should the 24-year-old ultimately be ruled out for a second straight week, Samaje Perine would presumably remain the team's primary early-down runner in his place, while Chris Thompson would continue getting reps in passing situations.
