Patriots OG Robert Gallery has retired from football.
It's a surprising move from the eight-year veteran and former No. 2 overall pick, though he was in a dogfight for a roster spot. According to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss, Gallery "just didn't have it in camp." Gallery made 12 starts for the Seahawks last season, but released only one year into a three-year, $15 million deal in March. The former tackle will finish his career with 103 starts to his name.

ESPN Boston believes OG Robert Gallery could be "on the outside" of the Patriots' roster bubble depending on the health of Logan Mankins and Brian Waters.
Reporter Mike Rodak gives Gallery a 75 percent chance of cracking the Patriots' 53-man roster, but isn't sure he'd be able to beat out each of Dan Connolly, Ryan Wendell, Nick McDonald and Donald Thomas if both Mankins and Waters are healthy. Although there are indications the former No. 2 pick could be finished, it would ultimately be surprising if he were among the Pats' final cuts.

According to ESPN Boston, there is some doubt as to how much OG Robert Gallery has left to offer at this point.
The Patriots view Gallery as an insurance policy for Logan Mankins (ACL surgery), but he won't be guaranteed a roster spot after being released by two teams in consecutive seasons. Of Gallery's $1.8 million contract, only $400,000 is guaranteed. He can earn an additional $100,000 through workout bonuses.

Seahawks LG Robert Gallery (groin) impressed in his return to game action last week.
"He looked quick and looked flexible," coach Pete Carroll said. "For his first time playing in five weeks he played well." Seattle's offensive line has been progressing steadily since a slow start in September.

Seahawks LG Robert Gallery is out 4-6 weeks, at least, after undergoing surgery on his groin.
The Seahawks are saying it's not an I.R. kind of situation yet, but that could be a possibility in due time. Gallery's body appears to be breaking down at age 31, as he's missed 15 of his last possible 34 games and is now out indefinitely. The Seahawks will continue to lack continuity on the offensive line, which is a big concern in a zone-blocking scheme. Rookie James Carpenter is staying at right tackle. Paul McQuistan is the new left guard.

Seahawks LG Robert Gallery (knee) has resumed practicing.
"That was great to see him back out," coach Pete Carroll said. "We took care of him, but he got physical, full-speed work today, which was good." Gallery figures to return in Week 2 against Pittsburgh. He'll have his hands full immediately against Steelers mammoth NT Casey Hampton and RE Brett Keisel.

Seahawks LG Robert Gallery was forced from Friday's preseason finale with a sprained knee.
He will undergo an MRI this afternoon. HC Pete Carroll said the injury is "significant enough" that he's unsure of Gallery's status for Week 1. The Seahawks' offensive line has been a mess all preseason, so it would be quite a blow were they to lose their new left guard just eight days before the start of the season.

Seahawks agreed to terms with OG Robert Gallery on a three-year contract.
Gallery has been expected to reunite with offensive line coach Tom Cable since walking away from the Raiders in early March. An ideal fit for Cable's zone-blocking scheme, Gallery should slot in at left guard with third-rounder James Carpenter at right guard. Seattle has done an admirable job of revamping an over-matched O-Line.
