Browns released P Richmond McGee. Cleveland's punter situation is up in the air this offseason. Brad Maynard is due to hit free agency, leaving only Reggie Hodges -- coming off Achilles' tendon surgery -- on the roster. McGee missed the final 15 games last season with a back injury that turned his leg numb.

Browns placed P Richmond McGee (back) on injured reserve, ending his season. McGee sustained the injury prior to the season opener, and punted throughout the game with little feeling in his right leg. It explains his three shanks against the Bengals. McGee's agent suggested the injury could threaten his fledgling career.

Browns P Richmond McGee may be replaced before Week 2. McGee had three shanks against the Bengals in Week 1, recording punts of 20, 28 and 30 yards. The Browns are expected to hold tryouts today as they search for a replacement.

Browns signed P Richmond McGee, formerly of the Bears. McGee spent time in Bears camp for three years, but he's never seen action in an NFL game. The 28-year-old is slated to replace Reggie Hodges, who went down with a torn Achilles tendon earlier in the week.

Bears waived P Richmond McGee and DT Sean Murnane. A camp leg in Chicago since 2009, McGee was no longer needed after the Adam Podlesh signing. Murnane was an undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan.
