Redskins re-signed QB Rex Grossman to a one-year contract. He'll enter a camp battle with John Beck, a competition undoubtedly skewered toward the latter by the coaching staff. Grossman, 31, knows the system and posted a 7:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio in place of a benched Donovan McNabb last year. That doesn't mean the light has flipped on for Rexy, though. He remains a turnover or game-costing error waiting to happen and lacks on-field confidence. The Skins are our current pick in the Suck For Luck race.

Free agent QB Rex Grossman will join the Redskins Tuesday night. A contract hasn't been signed yet, but it's only a matter of procedure at this point. Once Grossman is eligible to practice, the quarterback battle of the preseason is on. Grossman vs. John Beck to see who will be the leading the Suck for Luck campaign.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan fully expects free agent Rex Grossman to re-sign and compete with John Beck for the Redskins' starting QB job. In other words, Redskins shouldn't hold out hope for a Kyle Orton trade. Due to the NFL's new procedural rules, Grossman can't practice until Aug. 4. There's no hurry to sign this week, but it also leaves Beck with a one-week headstart. "I think it will be a great battle," Shanahan said of Becksy vs. Rexy, leaving us to wonder how he would have described Agincourt.

John Beck says the Redskins have told him that they will re-sign Rex Grossman once free agents are allowed to sign. Free agents can sign Friday night. Beck knows he won't be handed the starting job, but he'll certainly have the upper hand on Grossman. Most likely, both uninspiring options will make multiple starts this year if Washington sticks to its guns. The Redskins are the current favorites in the Suck for Luck race.
