Coach Mike Shanahan said Rex Grossman is auditioning for the 2012 quarterback job. Grossman signed a one-year deal with the Redskins in August, so he'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Still, a return would make some sense as he could serve as a bridge to whichever quarterback the team drafts in April. Since getting the starting job back from John Beck six games ago, Grossman has led the Redskins' offense to 20.4 points per game.

Rex Grossman completed six passes of 20 yards or longer in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. As any quarterback worth his salt has been able to do this season, Grossman was able to have his way downfield against the Patriots' 32nd ranked pass defense. Grossman has two more excellent matchups lined up for the final two weeks of the fantasy playoffs, getting the Giants' 29th ranked pass defense in Week 15 and Minnesota's 27th ranked unit in Week 16.

Rex Grossman completed 19-of-32 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception as the Redskins fell to the Patriots in Week 14. He also had a 49-yard scoring bomb "vultured" by PR Brandon Banks on a trick play. This was actually vintage "Good Rex," as he made several difficult throws into tight coverage and also exploited the New England zone defense when there were holes in the secondary, which was often the case on Jabar Gaffney's six receptions. Grossman's pick slipped through the hands of Santana Moss on the game's final play, so it wasn't necessarily the quarterback's fault. Grossman still won't be a standard-league fantasy option when the Redskins face the Giants in Week 15.

Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Monday Rex Grossman will remain the Redskins' starting quarterback. Never a monument to great quarterback play, Grossman was particularly dismal Sunday, completing just 19-of-46 passes as he played through an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. As was the case in Week 1, Grossman is not a starting-caliber NFL quarterback, but has definitively proven to be a better option than John Beck.

Rex Grossman needed a shot in his sore left shoulder prior to Sunday's loss to the Jets. The injection was to Grossman's non-throwing shoulder, so it's not a real excuse for his poor showing Sunday. "It's just frustrating. I don't really have an answer for you," Grossman said after the game. The Redskins' offense is trending down again with Fred Davis and Trent Williams likely done for the year due to suspensions.

Rex Grossman completed just 19-of-46 passes for 221 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's loss to the Jets. Grossman came crashing back to earth thanks in large part to a strong performance from the Jets' pass defense. They shut down the wideouts and, after the first quarter, did a good job on Fred Davis as well. The good news for Grossman is that he gets the Patriots' miserable secondary next week. The bad news is that he may be without Davis and LT Trent Williams due to suspension. Grossman projects as a risky QB2 going forward.

Rex Grossman completed 25-of-38 passes for 289 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's overtime loss to the Cowboys. Grossman also ran for a touchdown on a designed quarterback draw from four yards out. He was "good Rex" for most of the day today, hitting nine different receivers and showing good accuracy on sideline throws to Jabar Gaffney. It was certainly a solid enough performance to extend the leash on his starting job heading into next week's game at Seattle. The Redskins won't be able to run on the Seahawks, so Grossman is a good bet to push for 35-plus attempts once again as a weak QB2.

Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan has absolved Rex Grossman of blame on both interceptions from last week. Grossman's leash seems longer on Friday than it was early in the week. Offensive teammates have pointed out Grossman's willingness to take chances down the field. One undisclosed Redskins player said, "I would have put him back in (for John Beck) a while ago." Expectations are low in Washington. Grossman has turned the ball over 21 times in 10 games as a Redskin.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says he'll stick with Rex Grossman at quarterback in Week 11. Of course, Shanahan said the same thing about John Beck last Monday, but he appears a bit more certain this week. Although he at least returned the threat of a deep pass to Washington's offense on Sunday, Grossman was barely an upgrade over Beck, and will now be without promising young receiver Leonard Hankerson for the rest of the season. He's solely an emergency option in two-QB leagues.
