Rennie Curran has been running as the Bucs first-team weak-side linebacker in OTAs. Curran ultimately has a zero percent chance of beating out No. 58 pick Lavonte David for a starting job, but it could be a sign he has an inside track on a roster spot after spending 2011 out of football. A third-round pick of the Titans in 2010, Curran was cut after making just eight tackles in nine games as a rookie. He'd be ticketed for special teams in Tampa.

Bucs signed LB Rennie Curran, OG Chris Riley, and K Jacob Rogers to reserve/future contracts. The 97th pick in the 2010 draft, Curran surprisingly spent all of 2011 out of football after being waived by the Titans at final cuts. He's limited to weak-side linebacker in a 4-3. Riley played his college ball at Illinois State.

Titans waived LB Rennie Curran, RB Herb Donaldson, TE Riar Geer, RB Stafon Johnson, TE Cameron Graham, OG Thomas Gray, RB Kestahn Moore, CB Lequan Lewis, WR Michael Preston, and FB Joe Tronzo. For now at least, the Titans will carry just three tailbacks on the Week 1 roster, reaffirming that they anticipate Chris Johnson to play a big role early. Curran is an athletic, sideline-to-sideline linebacker, but he just didn't fit the Titans' preference to get bigger in the front seven at 5'11/230. Tampa 2-style teams should be looking to claim him on waivers.

News Titans LBs coach Frank Bush says LB Rennie Curran is still in the team's 2011 plans. The under-sized Curran's status got murky after Tennessee drafted both Akeem Ayers and Colin McCarthy, but Bush says Curann still "fits in as one of our weak-side linebackers." Active just nine times as a rookie last season, Curran tallied only eight tackles.
