Because Achilles-related issues can linger for lengthy periods, Bryant likely has more of an indefinite timetable for a return than intimated by Arians.

Bryant was released by the Jaguars on Thursday, the Florida Times-Union reports. Bryant, who was due a $500,000 roster bonus this weekend, will part ways with the Jaguars after only one season. The move saves the Jags about $4.5 million cap space, and Bryant became expendable after the team signed Jared Odrick on Wednesday. The 31-year-old Bryant started all 16 games last season, recording 22 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

Bryant hasn't generated much public buzz since his release from the Seahawks last week, but has been linked to the Chiefs. He'd be wise to find a new home before free agency floods the market with similar talents.

The National Football Post's Aaron Wilson is "hearing" the Chiefs have interest in free agent DE Red Bryant. Bryant could play five-technique end in Kansas City, replacing free agent Tyson Jackson. Bryant is also expected to field interest from New England, though he hasn't generated significant buzz since Seattle released him on Friday.

The Jags and former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley could also have interest.
