Coples was released by the Rams on Monday, Rand Getlin of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a miserable one-year stint with Miami, the former 2012 first rounder looked for a fresh start in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old wasn't able to distinguish himself from his peers. Despite a rough stretch as of late, Coples did show some flashes of potential in his early years with the Jets. While it's unlikely Coples yields a great deal of fantasy value this season, the five-year vet may very well land with another team before year's end.

Coples has signed a two-year deal with the Rams, NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coples, whose deal carries a maximum value of $9.75 million, figures to work as a defensive end in the Rams' 4-3 defense, with the team looking to add some pass rushing depth following the offseason departure of Chris Long. Though Coples was limited to just eight tackles in 2015, he did record 37 tackles and 6.5 sacks while with the Jets in 2014.

Coples is expected to be waived by Miami before free agency begins.
EDGE Analysis
Coples didn't play much once acquired by Miami so this news shouldn't catch anyone by surprise. His release would save the team $7.75 million against the cap.

Coples didn't perform any better with Miami than he did with the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Coples barely played with Miami even with all of their injuries to the linebacking corps. Perhaps next season and another training camp will give him the fresh start he needs.

Coples was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins on Tuesday, after being released by the Jets on Monday, ESPN's James Walker reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was no chance the 2012 first-round selection would pass through waivers, as he has at least shown signs of promise as a pass-rusher, even while largely disappointing. Coples piled up 16.5 sacks through his first three seasons, but he didn't have any in 10 games for the Jets this year, and eventually lost his part-time role in the defense. The Dolphins will likely try to work him in as a situational pass-rusher.

Coples was released by the Jets on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 16th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Coples never quite lived up to expectations, yet his release still comes as a surprise. He had 5.5, 4.5 and 6.5 sacks in his first three seasons, but he's barely seen the field in 2015 since the first few weeks of the year. It won't be long before he signs with another team.

Coples recorded a fumble recovery and a tackle Sunday against the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Although he had a fairly-quiet day, he was in the right place when Trevor Riley forced a fumble that Coples was able to recover in the fourth quarter.

The Jets will pick up the fifth-year option on Coples' rookie contract, the New York Daily News reports. Coples has always been a player more about potential than results, and that hasn't really changed in his three NFL seasons. He reached a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2014, but the Jets likely had finer results in mind when they selected him 16th overall in the 2012 draft. Still, Coples is an uncommon athletic talent and won't be 25 until June, so the Jets have reason to give him another year.

Jets OLB Quinton Coples dropped about 15 pounds and is playing in 270-275 range. Coples entered the league as a hand-in-the-dirt defensive end, but made the transition to stand-up edge rusher last season. He generated just 4.5 sacks. The Jets are now looking for a breakout season from the third-year pro. He already plays above-average run defense, but Coples needs to find the quarterback more, especially with bookend Calvin Pace nearing the end of the line at age 33.

ESPN New York reports Jets OLB Quinton Coples has been "testing the patience of the coaches from the day he arrived." This comes on the heels of a quote from former Jets great and analyst Joe Kelcko, who said Coples "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane." Per beat writer Rich Cimini, the frustration level with Coples inside the organization is high. Coples, the 16th pick in the 2012 draft, made the switch to outside linebacker from end last season. He has just ten sacks through two years but plays stout run defense.
