The timeline for Manning's (foot) return may hinge on when his cast is removed this week, according to The Denver Post.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Gary Kubiak said the cast will be removed this week, also suggesting that the timing of the removal could be crucial for determining Manning's Week 14 availability. The future Hall of Famer has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, and there's no guarantee he'll return to a starting role when/if he is ready to play. There should be plenty more updates in the coming weeks.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggested Thursday that Manning (foot) is at least three weeks away from playing again.
EDGE Analysis
When explaining the basis of the estimate, Rapoport noted Thursday that Manning is "going to be in a cast for up to 10 days, then he's got another week of rehab, and then he's got to try to get on the field." Based on that, Rapoport suggests that "the date to circle on your calendar is Dec. 20 against the Steelers. That's the most realistic date that Manning could be back, but no one has guaranteed to me that he'll definitely be back on the field, especially if Brock Osweiler is playing well." In any case, the Broncos have already acknowledged that Manning -- who continues to recover from a plantar fascia tear -- is expected to miss at least the next two games, with Osweiler slated to fill in for him at QB in the meantime.

Manning (plantar fascia tear) will miss at least the next two weeks, the Broncos announced Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
He had a consultation Monday with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, and his foot will be in a walking cast for at least a week. According to this latest news, the soonest Manning could be back under center would be Dec. 13 at home against the Raiders, although coach Gary Kubiak was non-committal about whether Manning would be the team's starting quarterback when he is medically cleared to play. Brock Osweiler will start again Sunday against the Patriots, and the team is expected to work out former Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder on Wednesday in an effort to add depth.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak did not commit to Manning (foot/ribs) when asked Monday if the veteran signal-caller will get his starting job back when/if he is healthy, Mike Klis of 9News reports
EDGE Analysis
Kubiak ruled Manning out for Sunday's game against the Patriots, also saying that the team will evaluate its quarterback situation on a week-to-week basis. Manning is clearly in danger of missing time beyond Week 12, and he is visiting with orthopedic foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Manning (foot) will not return for Sunday's game against the Patriots, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manning may have had this one circled on his calendar, but his absence comes as no surprise. There's been no shortage of suggestions that the absence will last multiple weeks, along with speculation that he won't play again this season. It's still too early for any assumptions beyond Week 12, but Brock Osweiler will start Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Manning (foot/ribs) will meet with head coach Gary Kubiak on Monday to discuss the quarterback's plan for the upcoming week, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Broncos have yet to make any kind of announcement, but with Manning still in significant pain, it will be surprising if Brock Osweiler doesn't get at least one more start. The larger question pertains to what the team will do if Osweiler continues to play well and Manning's injury improves. Last week, Manning was ruled out after meeting with Kubiak on Monday. It will be notable if the same thing doesn't happen after this week's meeting.

Manning could miss multiple games because of his foot and ribs injuries, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. An MRI on Manning's ribs came back negative, but the strain is reportedly still very painful.
EDGE Analysis
Manning is inactive Sunday against the Bears because of a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, but apparently the rib issue is also a bit serious. Brock Osweiler is starting in his place Sunday, and he is expected to keep the job while Manning remains sidelined.

Manning (foot) will not play Sunday against the Bears, head coach Gary Kubiak announced Monday. Brock Osweiler will get the start, while Trevor Siemian will be the back up.
EDGE Analysis
Manning is coming off the worst game of his career Sunday against the Chiefs, completing just 5 of 20 passes for 35 yards and getting picked off four times. It was reported Monday that he was diagnosed with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, an injury that will force him to miss at least one game but potentially more. Osweiler, who replaced Manning on Sunday and threw for 146 yards and a touchdown, has been considered the quarterback of the future since he was selected by the Broncos in the second round of the 2012 draft, and he will now get at least one game to show the team that he can handle the job. One big wrinkle in all of this is that former Broncos head coach John Fox is now the head coach of the Bears, while former offensive coordinator Adam Gase has the same job in Chicago, making the matchup much tougher than initially believed.

EDGE Analysis
Manning was slowed by a foot injury this week, and it appears he is dealign with more than just simple soreness. It remains to be seen if his injury will cost him any further action, but if it does, Brock Osweiler would step in as the starting quarterback in his place.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said he probably made a bad decision allowing Manning (ribs/foot) to start Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manning was listed as probable for Sunday's game, but his rib injury may be worse than the Broncos initially let on. He had one of the worst passing performances in NFL history Sunday afternoon, completing five of 20 attempts for 35 yards, with no touchdowns and four interceptions. Head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that Manning will still be the starter when healthy, though it sounds like the 39-year-old could use a week off. The Broncos face the Bears in Week 11.
