Barber carried the ball 23 times for 111 yards and a touchdown while catching three of five targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
With Josh Jacobs (ankle) sidelined again, it was Barber and not Kenyan Drake who took on the lead role in the Las Vegas backfield, and the 27-year-old responded with his first 100-yard performance since Week 11 of 2018, when he was with Tampa Bay. Barber also punched it in from the one-yard line early in the fourth quarter for his first touchdown of the season. The Raiders will get an extra day to rest and prepare before taking on the Chargers in Week 4 on Monday night, and if Jacobs is recovered by then, Barber likely won't see many touches despite this big effort.

Barber carried the ball 13 times for 32 yards in Sunday's Week 2 win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Barber led the Raiders' backfield in both carries and yardage, yet his day was still hardly noteworthy. His longest rush of the contest went for 13 yards, though he was also tackled for a loss on four separate occasions. Barber's role in the offense going forward will be dependent on the health of Josh Jacobs (toe/anke), though even with a significant workload the results don't project to be particularly impressive.

Barber is a candidate to help fill in for Josh Jacobs (toe/ankle), who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
"It's an opportunity for Peyton Barber," coach Jon Gruden said of Jacobs' looming absence. "We really like Barber. I like the way he runs and catches and picks up blitzes." With that, it looks like Barber will be involved in the Raiders' Week 2 game plan and thus profiles as an option for those scrambling for RB help. That said, Hill believes that offseason addition Kenyan Drake figures to take the majority of the team's backfield snaps Sunday, a notion echoed by Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site.

The Raiders will sign Barber off Washington's practice squad, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jalen Richard (leg) on IR and slated to miss at least three games to start the coming season, Barber gives the Raiders some needed backfield depth behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake. Over the course of 16 games with Washington last season, Barber logged 94 carries for 258 yards and four TDs, en route to recording a career-low 2.7 yards per carry. As long as Jacobs and Drake are available, Barber doesn't have a path to steady touches, but he could see occasional early-down or short-yardage carries behind the team's top duo.

The Football Team signed Barber to the practice squad Wednesday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barber lost his spot on the initial 53-man roster as a result of rookie Jaret Patterson putting together an impressive preseason, but he will stick around in Washington as an emergency option in case of injury. In 16 appearances with the Football Team last season, Barber handled 94 carries for 258 yards and four touchdowns, recording a career-low 2.7 yards per carry.

Barber was released by Washington on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barber was hoping to reprise his role from last season but instead seems to have lost the No. 3 spot on the depth chart to undrafted rookie Jaret Patterson, who had 180 total yards and a touchdown in three preseason games. Washington may end up re-signing Barber at some point this year if he doesn't land with another team. Experience is probably the biggest thing working in his favor at this point, with the 27-year-old plodder having logged 1,539 career snaps on offense and another 482 on special teams.

Barber recorded six carries for 20 yards and a touchdown while securing his lone target for three yards in Thursday's 22-13 preseason loss to the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old was on the field for 14 percent of Washington's offensive snaps in Thursday's preseason opener, but he worked behind Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Jaret Patterson. Barber was responsible for the team's only rushing touchdown but averaged just 3.3 yards per carry. He shed weight during the offseason but has plenty of competition for a depth role ahead of the regular season.

Barber slimmed down this offseason, according to Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Ron Rivera believes Barber shed weight without sacrificing strength, saying it was mostly "baby fat" that the running back lost. With Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic looking solid in the first two RB spots, Barber heads into training camp as Washington's No. 3 back, facing competition from Jaret Patterson, Lamar Miller and Jonathan Williams. While he doesn't offer much upside as a runner, Barber has ample NFL experience on both offense and special teams (the latter being a key consideration for back-end roster spots).

Barber finished the 2020 regular season with 94 carries for 258 yards and four touchdowns and four catches for 12 yards on seven targets.
EDGE Analysis
Barber had 17 carries and two touchdowns in a season-opening win over Philadelphia, and he split work with J.D. McKissic when Antonio Gibson missed some time with a toe injury in December. Apart from that, Barber had a quiet year, maintaining a role on special teams and occasionally subbing in for Gibson on early downs. Barber will turn 27 in June and has one year remaining on his contract, but he'll likely need to battle for his roster spot if he stays in Washington this offseason.

Barber took one carry for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
With Antonio Gibson (toe) back in the lineup after missing two games, Barber barely had a role in the Washington offense. The veteran back isn't likely to see much work Week 17 at Philadelphia.
