The Football Team signed Barber to the practice squad Wednesday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Barber lost his spot on the initial 53-man roster as a result of rookie Jaret Patterson putting together an impressive preseason, but he will stick around in Washington as an emergency option in case of injury. In 16 appearances with the Football Team last season, Barber handled 94 carries for 258 yards and four touchdowns, recording a career-low 2.7 yards per carry.
