Ex-Vikings DT Pat Williams is officially retiring from football. The 40-year old 15-year veteran hasn't played a snap since 2010. One half of the "Williams Wall," Williams will sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Vikings. One of the better run stoppers of his generation, Williams is hanging it up with three Pro Bowl appearances to his name, and 199 career appearances.

The Panthers have reportedly shown interest in free agent NT Pat Williams. Williams has also drawn interest from the Pats, but nothing has "intensified" there. Carolina could definitely use an early-down run-stopping specialist after losing Ron Edwards for the season.

New England has been kicking the tires on just about every veteran free agent this offseason, so it's unclear if they have serious interest. According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Pats "might" bring Williams in for a visit this weekend.
