The Cowboys and Odighizuwa agreed to terms Tuesday on a four-year, $80 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dallas was expected to place the franchise tag on Odighizuwa, but the two sides managed to reach agreeable terms on a long-term deal before that proved necessary. The 27-year-old put together the best season of his career in 2024, with 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks across 17 regular-season appearances. His new deal reportedly includes $58 million guaranteed. For fantasy purposes, Odighizuwa looks slated to repeat as a high-end option in IDP formats that require starters at the defensive tackle position.

The Cowboys plan to franchise tag Odighizuwa on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler adds that Dallas and Odighizuwa are unlikely to reach a long-term deal by Tuesday, the last day teams can place the franchise tag on players this offseason. The 27-year-old posted career highs with 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks over 17 regular-season games in 2024. Odighizuwa is projected to receive $25.1 million if he's tagged, and he'd be considered one of the top available free agents if he hit the open market this offseason.

Odighizuwa played a career-high 816 snaps and finished with 47 tackles (25 solo), including 4.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a forced fumble in 2024.
EDGE Analysis
The fourth-year pro also started all 17 games, though Dallas' defense finished fourth to last in the league in rushing yards allowed. The 2021 third-round pick played out his rookie deal this year, and he will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Odighizuwa faces increased competition for snaps at defensive tackle in 2024.
EDGE Analysis
The 2021 third-round pick has emerged as a reliable 3-technique at defensive tackle for the Cowboys, and Odighizuwa recorded a career-high 46 tackles over 17 regular-season games last season with 3.0 sacks. Last year's first-round pick Mazi Smith is expected to take a step forward in his development though, and Dallas added veteran Jordan Phillips to the DT mix during training camp, with free agent Linval Joseph also expected to sign in the coming days. That gives new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer plenty of options in the middle of the defensive line, but it also makes it unlikely that Odighizuwa will see the career-high 601 snaps he got in 2023.

Odighizuwa (hamstring) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old logged limited practices both Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to record a full session Friday and now has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's contest. Odighizuwa has appeared in eight games for Dallas this season, recording 27 total tackles, including five tackles for loss and three sacks.

Odighizuwa (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear at this point when Odighizuwa picked up the hamstring issue nor how severe it might be. Either way, if he can't practice in full Friday, he'll be in danger of missing his first game this season.

Odighizuwa recorded four tackles, including two sacks, in Sunday's 40-0 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
It was a huge night for the Dallas defense, and Odighizuwa tied Dorance Armstrong for the team lead in sacks as the Cowboys' pass rush brought down Daniel Jones seven times in total. Odighizuwa only had six sacks in 33 games through his first two years in the NFL, so he's unlikely to repeat this performance any time soon, but the defensive tackle is a key part of what could be the most dangerous unit in the league this season.

Odighizuwa (knee) is active for Thursday's game against the Giants, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Odighizuwa was listed as a limited participant on the Cowboys' practice reports all week, but he's been cleared to play through his knee injury in Week 12. Over two games since the Week 9 bye, he's racked up three tackles (two solo).

Odighizuwa (knee) was listed as a limited participant on the Cowboys' injury report, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
Odighizuwa recorded one tackle while logging a season-low 18 defensive snaps during Sunday's 40-3 win over the Vikings. However, he appears to have come away from this game with a knee injury, though the exact nature and severity of this issue are still unknown. Odighizuwa has recorded 39 tackles and two sacks over 10 games this season, and he'll have two more practices to increase his activity before Dallas' matchup against the Giants on Thanksgiving Day. Otherwise, Carlos Watkins and Neville Gallimore could stand to see increased roles, as Johnathan Hankins (illness) did not participate in Monday's practice.

Odighizuwa was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Odighizuwa missed the Cowboys' win over the Giants in Week 15. However, in addition to being activated, he was also able to suit up for practice Thursday, lining him up for a return on Sunday against Washington. Across 13 games this season, Odighizuwa has recorded 30 total tackles with two sacks while playing a prominent role along the defensive line.
