Saints placed C Olin Kreutz on the reserve/left squad list.
The move officially takes Kreutz off the Saints' active roster, and prevents him from signing elsewhere. Kreutz's player rep told the Chicago Tribune on Saturday he was headed back to his native Hawaii to "see where he's at," suggesting he may have still be opening to signing elsewhere. That is no longer possible. It's quite likely Kreutz has played his final NFL down at the age of 34. A 14-year veteran, Kreutz has started 187 career games since being a third-round pick of the Bears in 1998.

Veteran C Olin Kreutz is walking away from the Saints because "he no longer feels passion and doesn't want to just collect paycheck," according to his agent.

Saints C Olin Kreutz (knee) resumed practicing on Thursday.
Kreutz has been sidelined since injuring his left knee in Week 3. His status for Week 6 is up in the air, though the Saints are probably better off going with backup Brian de la Puente again. Well under 300 pounds, Kreutz got pushed around the first couple of games.

Saints declared C Olin Kreutz (knee) inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
The Saints will be without both Kreutz, their starting center and Zach Strief (leg), their starting right tackle. Brian De La Puente and Charles Brown will fill in. The good news for the Saints is that the Jags can't rush the passer. Other Saints inactives: WR Adrian Arrington, TE David Thomas, DE Jeff Charleston, LB Will Herring and LB Martez Wilson.

Saints agreed to terms with C Olin Kreutz on a one-year contract.
The Matt Tennant experiment didn't last long. Kreutz replaces Jonathan Goodwin in what projects as a downgrade in on-field performance. While Kreutz has a big name, the 34-year-old graded out 33rd among 34 qualifying centers in Pro Football Focus' 2010 ratings. Perhaps a change of scenery and better offense around him will help Kreutz, but he's clearly on a career downswing.

The Saints hosted free agent C Olin Kreutz on Thursday.
Undersized second-year prospect Matt Tennant is currently working as the Saints' starter inside. Kreutz is 34 and declining, and has been considering retirement. A chance to play for a legit Super Bowl contender might change that.

Free agent C Olin Kreutz has decided to continue his football career after weighing retirement the past few days.
The 34-year-old may have missed his window with the 49ers, who hosted former Saints center Jonathan Goodwin on Tuesday. There's a decent chance he'll have to compete for a job wherever he lands.

Free agent C Olin Kreutz is considering retirement after turning down the Bears' one-year, $4 million offer.
Kreutz doesn't want to play for any team other than the Bears, but he's unhappy with GM Jerry Angelo's approach toward contract talks. Kreutz was first offered a 50 percent pay cut, then asked to make a decision in an hour. "After everything he's done for the Bears, he didn't want to have a gun to his head," explained Kreutz's agent.

Free agent C Olin Kreutz is reportedly seeking a one-year, $4.5 million deal from the Bears.
That's $500,000 more than the Bears are offering. Although $500,000 is no small chunk of change, it would seem to be the least the Bears could spend to prevent their offensive line from falling into a state of chaos just six weeks before the start of the regular season. Talks between the two sides are reportedly dead, but it wouldn't be surprising if cooler hears soon prevailed.
