Carroll (broken ankle) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Already coming unglued, the Philadelphia defense will lose arguably its most consistent cornerback. On the bright side, rookie second-round draft pick Eric Rowe should now have the opportunity to play nearly every defensive snap. Carroll, who can hit free agency this offseason, should have enough time to recover before training camp.

Carroll has been diagnosed with a broken right ankle, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carroll left Thursday's game in Detroit on a cart and was ruled out shortly thereafter. With only five contests remaining on the schedule, he'll be hard-pressed to make another appearance this season. In the meantime, rookie Eric Rowe will likely get the nod at cornerback.

Carroll won't return to Thursday's contest in Detroit due to an ankle injury, Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carroll was carted off the field in the first half, and after undergoing X-rays, he was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. While the severity of the injury isn't known, Eric Rowe will cover for Carroll at cornerback.

Carroll returned an interception for a touchdown in Monday's 27-7 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Carroll's name wasn't called very often in the Eagles' first five games, which is normally a good sign for a cornerback. He put himself front-and-center in the team's sixth game of the year with his game-changing score, his first interception since 2013 and his first pick-six of his career. Carroll has played strong, consistent football as a key part of a defense that has seen its fortunes change dramatically with two dominant performances in a row.

Carroll and Eric Rowe are competing for a starting job, according to CSN Philadelphia's Geoff Mosher.
Carroll has 27 career starts through five seasons, but Rowe is a second-round rookie with an ideal blend of size and speed. The Eagles obviously hope Rowe will prove worthy of the starting job, but the rookie's versatility (he also can play safety) might work in Carroll's favor if it's a close call. Rowe is the more promising IDP prospect, as Carroll has never topped 43 tackles in a season.

Eagles CB Nolan Carroll has been impressive during spring practices.
A press-man corner by trade, Carroll does not have a ton of experience playing the off coverage required during non-contact practices. That lack of experience makes his stellar play all the more impressive and lends credence to the idea that Carroll could be even better once the pads come on in training camp. Carroll has a real shot to beat out Cary Williams for the starting cornerback job.

Eagles new CB Nolan Carroll expects to compete for a starting job in 2014.
"Coach Kelly told me I'll come in and compete for a starting spot," Carroll said. Carroll size and press coverage skills fit well in Philadelphia, and he has the talent to beat out the underwhelming Cary Williams, though it is likely he serves as the No. 3 corner to start the season. Either way, Carroll adds solid depth to a secondary bereft of it in 2013.

Free agent CB Nolan Carroll will visit the Bills.
It will be Carroll's first trip of free agency. He's been linked to several teams the past week, but we doubt his market will be scorching hot. Carroll knows the division, and the Bills have a need at corner opposite Stephon Gilmore.

The 49ers are among the teams showing interest in free agent CB Nolan Carroll.
We're beginning to think Carroll has the best agent in the biz', considering he's not an especially effective player but multiple "reports" have claimed various teams want him. He's also been linked to the Vikings, Steelers, and Dolphins, among others. The Niners are needy at corner after cutting Carlos Rogers.
